I think someone's trying to make him a meme. I think I like it.

Its not that I don't agree that Jon's stuff sounds very similar if not the same in nature throughout his discography, and these are quite funny meme's...But what's the point in talking shit about or constantly dissing on Iced Earth/Jon's music...Granted fresh creativity might not be present to some people and sure its not exactly the most innovative thing to do with music, but I never saw the problem in recycling your own style and music. If a man writes something, and its his own creation...can't he manipulate that creation any way that he wants to?

I'm totally not directing this towards anyone, and I'm not trying to come off as a dick about it either. Just a generalized question/concern about people that are always talking about musicians that recycle their own music. If anything this should be seen as a good conversation topic.

Because this is the internet and becoming a meme should be a great honor. People only make fun of you because they care. Like Scumbag Steve.

Jon's awesome. Nice as hell, and a great musician, but let's face it man, he's pretty goddamn intense about it. I find when things like this appear on the internet it's because someone takes themselves too seriously.

Case in point about intensity and seriousness. Also, I wore that shirt a few days ago. I wore it to my first PP attendance, when they played.

I was at a Rik Emmett solo show a long time ago, and he was introducing an instrumental solo song of his that borrowed (or had something similar to) a musical phrase from an instrumental from his older Triumph days. He said something like, "When you copy someone else, it's plagiarism. When you copy from yourself, it's art!" :-)

No one else will say it, so I will, haha. You give him shit for recycling HIS OWN RIFFS, when you are recycling riffs from someone else in your cover band...?

:Smokedev:

Wow, sorry to be blunt, but that's QUITE an ignorant comment if you step back and think about it. It is a tribute band. Iced Earth is a band that writes originals. Two completely different things. I know you were trying to get a cheep pop from the crowd, and you succeeded in eliciting one pop, from none other than AeonicSlumber. WELL DONE! :tickled:
