January 31st 2005 : Jon Levasseur's departure

Greetings all Cryptopsy fans!

Jon Levasseur here writing to officially announce my departure from Cryptopsy. It is something I strangely felt coming on since a year prior to my departure (August 2004) as my inspiration for such extreme music was growing thin. After 10 years in the band, I now wish to step back, lay low and explore other things in music. Who knows, maybe one day this new chapter in my life could turn out into something interesting!

That being said, I want to say that I’m very proud of what Cryptopsy has accomplished as a band and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have broken through boundaries with some of the best musicians in the business. So to Flo Mounier, Eric Langlois, Lord Worm and Alex Auburn, it’s been a great ride guys, full of memories. Thanx for everything and for putting up with me!!! I also wish to extend thanx to the ex-members club: Steve Thibault, Mike DiSalvo, Miguel Roy, Martin Lacroix, Martin Fergusson, Dave Galea and to the 6th member for the past 6 years, Maurice Richard and all other people who have been involved in the band's success!

Finally, I want to thank every Cryptopsy fan on the planet. Because of your undying support, the band is able to bring its music around the globe and it made me live so many great things and experiences. I got to play for fans in many places in the world, some places even beyond my own expectations. Hail to you all, thank you and do look forward to the next Cryptopsy album!

Long life to Cryptopsy!

Jon Levasseur

well that sucks...!

Damn. I'm finally gonna get a chance to see them, and John leaves the band. Well, gotta respect his wishes, and I wish him luck, happiness and success in everything he does. If he ends up putting out any more albums I'll be sure to buy them regardless of genre.

But now the big question is, Are they still gonna tour in March! They're set to play the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas March 6th, a tiny little venue that holds less then 300 people, a lot smaller then I'd expected them to play. Anyway, I hope they're still able to make it!

They have the Miguel guitarist guy probably, the bald dood that they supposivly smuggled in a roadcase over the border cause he had some warrents out for his arrest. i dont know, their old vocalist mile desalvo told me that, so maybe not him. they should bring back Steve the oldest member of the group, he did vocals too.

They smuggled him in roadcase? That's fuckin' hilarious. Wonder if it's true? Looks like they're still gonna tour without a problem, since Worm is back he probably doesn't want to miss his first US shows in a long time. Then again, maybe he doesn't care, I dunno lol. But I just read that they have the guitarist from Matyr to replace Jon for this tour, so hopefully that'll be good.

Yup Dan Mongrain is replacing Jon to complete the tour.

Yeah Matyr is one of my favorite bands, I saw them LIVE when we played the New Jeresy Metal Fest in 2003. The fucking tore shit up, best band at the fest, besides Darkane, which I missed. Dan also did the run with Gorguts if you guys can remember when they came with Oppressor in 1999. He can do the job no problem, and its always a blast when you see the guy live, he puts on a show for sure.

Death Across America representin' bia!
Those were always fun to hit up.
That's more or less the tours that really started to boost Vader & Nile to more people.
Good ol' days, when I still headbanged to fast shit.
Now...I'm old. All of 23.
