It's been rumored for months that Daniel Day-Lewis would replace Ledger, should Nolan choose to direct a 3rd one. He's a lot older, but given his obsessive immersion in method acting, I think he'd be a worthy choice, for sure.

That's his favorite character. I saw an interview and thats the character he loved the most. But yes, after seeing There Will be Blood I can definitely see Daniel playing the Joker, I think these movies might be to mainstream for him, and I wouldnt expect to ever see him in these movies

Ok, it's been long enough to where I shouldn't have to worry about spoilers.

What the hell are they going to do about the Joker in the next movie? He left him hanging, but he isn't dead. No one can replace Heath Ledger! Is it just over with the Joker?

I'd really like Penguin to be in the next movie, followed by Riddler. And Robin if they don't fag him up.

Lewis has been in some of the biggest movies of the past 15 years. Mainstream is an adjective he cares for not, I figure. I'd say he'd be into playing the Joker, if Nolan gets on board for a 3rd.
