Just arrived: XSr™

Another happy JSX owner. Welcome to the club man. I think i'm gona have to go out and try it with a TS now that i've heard your comments on it, though I dont know if i'll have enough $$ for one just yet.

Personally I thought the JSX sounded more 5150 than XXX, since the mids were more simillar to the 5150 (character wise) and the XXX is WWWAAAAYYYY to fucking fizzy.

The Peavey XSr™ is an exclusive mod currently available only to registered UM members who frequent the Sneap forum. It's just a limited test program at the moment, so the heads ship stock and detailed instructions for user-mod are provided upon request.

Don't let these jesters put you off -- even a drummer who knows which is the business end of a screwdriver could handle this mod. And it really is a highly supererogatory upgrade, perfect for anyone who wants to get the most prevalent JSX tone possible. The impact is nugatory for both clean and high gain tones!

You don't want to know man.

Thanks though Nebulous. You nailed it exactly. This amp does not have the fizz of the XXX, but moreso the midrange of the 5150. The top end it similar as well, very smoth, not harsh or brittle....very similar to the 5150.

The TS-9 in front does make it react the same as my 5150 does.

For those that are still in disbelief about it being similar to the 5150....
I got this amp, brought it home. Put my TS-9 in front of it with the same settings I use for my 5150. Used the same settings on the amp as I do on my 5150...I mean IDENTICAL settings. Except I did turn the treble knob back like 1 or 2 notches...thats it. Plugged into the same cab that I run my 5150 into when I used it for gigs or took it home. Same guitar, same gauge strings, same picks and cables. The XSr™ sounded like a warmer, more alive 5150. I've always told clients who use my 5150 in the studio that it's a lead player's amp, so it's very unforgiving of any sloppy playing and all that. The same is true for this...but like bumped up a few degrees.
