I've been producing the new Susperia album at my place and we (me, singer, guitarist) went to Bergstrand a week for mixing... It was really cool cuz this guy has produced some of my favourite albums (meshuggah, strapping)... This guy is just sooo passionate and persistent with he's work, it's really amazing....

...also, he gave a so many cool tips about how to record drums and how to mix things.. he also told me some wacked stories from doing Meshuggah and SYL....

Well, wierdest thing ever about Destroy Erease Improve is this:

When they where gonna start mixing the album Fredrik said there was missing a tiny little bottom in the guitars...Daniel told him this could easily be fixed with som EQ, but instead Fredrik re-recorded all four rythm-tracks during the night until next day. That's like all four rythmtrack in eight hours or so... I just can't belive it. The drums also went really fast and the whole album took only three weeks. Also, DEI and Chaosphere di'd not have the exact rythm guitar-setup as some claim. He coulden't quite remember exact, though...but very intresting...

Hey man, cheers! Must have been awesome! please share anything else you think of relating to Meshuggah. I'm a huge fan of them and the production on those albums.

How's the Susperia sounding? I like what I've heard from them.. I'll be interested to hear that stuff.

SO GREAT !

Can you share a little more ? what about his way to mix the drums ? What does he uses for guitars ?

Bergstrand is great, and seems to be a cool passionate guy, we wrote some e-mails to each other because I would like to record the drums of my band's next album with him.
Can't wait to the great albums that will come out of his hands !!

Haha, thanks man, that's some nice trivia.

Shame he couldn't remember any gear-related details. I love the production on DEI. In particular really love the guitar tone from the DEI/Chaosphere era.
