Just heard two granades.

The fucking sad part is that one country seems to be paying an immense price so others can snort some shit...that is fucked, surely the UN or whoever will not tolerate this.

The UN is useless dude. These guys are 100% ruthless and I highly doubt the UN will step in and just make it all disappear or gives these guys any incentive to stop the killing. From what I understand the Mexican military is lacking manpower AND firepower to deal with these guys. That's how bad it is getting.

And sadly, history has proved, time and time again, how much the UN has either proven itself useless in a situation or just completely fucked up.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there's some corrupt fuckers in the Mexican military who are getting some pesos out of the drug trade some way or another too.

Damn. All you guys talking about growing up with war like it 'ain't no thing' (not to take light of it) really makes me think how easy we've got it here as well (I'm in Aus too). I couldn't even imagine having to worry about that sort of thing.

Metal Overload, my sister is actually heading to Mexico at the end of the year to volunteer in some orphanages and now hearing this has got me fairly nervous... I'll have to check out where she's actually going and ask for a status report maybe, if it's not too much trouble. Best of luck to you mate!

Look no further than the war that Soultrash was referring to for a great example.

+1. Well said too Harry. The problem with the U.N. is that they don't have a fundemental understanding of the people or situations they are trying to mediate between, or the problems that are causing the fighting. They think that their mere presence will keep the peace. They refer to them as "smurfs" for a reason. :)

Joe

Really fucked up knowing people working in legit law and business are collaborating with the cartels.

from what i understand, there's very few people who willingly work with the cartels, due to the threat of violence...most are forced into it by, you guessed it, threats of violence.

I think it's close for 5,000 in the past 5-6 years or so?

latest estimates i've seen are 28,000 since 2006!

surely the UN or whoever will not tolerate this.

a)the UN doesn't have much authority to do anything anyways

b)the UN exists to in order to help resolve conflicts across international borders; what's going on now is all Mexico's deal. Of course the demand for drugs comes from the US, and a small amount of violence has spilled across the border, but most of it is cartel v. cartel, or cartel v. government officials, and there's no way the UN is going to dip their pussy noses into all that.

Man if there was ever a cause to fight this is it...fucking UN,what a joke, these people need help and it's been going on for a while now, what a disgrace.

It's not really a UN issue, like we said. In the Balkan wars it was, in Israel/Egypt circa 1967 it was, but this is all pretty much contained within Mexico's borders, save for the few stray bullets that have traveled into Texas this week (you guys hear about that??). But even then, the U.N. probably wouldn't dare get involved.

They simply don't have the manpower to deal with these thugs and half the police force is corrupt to shit.

It's a real shit situation and unfortunately the only way to stop it is more violence.

the issue with the UN is more that you have 5 nations as permanent members of the security council who all have differing agendas in regards to every conflict, and no resolution can be passed without being unanimous

when the US/germany/france want to jump on a situation, russia/china say no way...and when russia/china want to get the UN involved in something, the other 3 do the same to them.

so, in the end, all you get is a bunch of diplomats standing around a big table and cock-blocking each other all day while people get hacked up/shot/blown to bits, nukes get built by muslim extremists, etc. etc.

It's a real shit situation and unfortunately the only way to stop it is more violence.

actually, the only real way to stop the cartel violence is to reduce the demand for their product. as long as large portions of the US population are involved in snorting coke and smoking meth and shitty mexican weed, the violence will continue.

I don't know what to say...I think that for the situation to be this bad then they must be supplying a large portion of the worlds gear...yeah it's a tough one and it does'nt look like ending anytime soon. One way or another the innocent people of Mexico (women and children) can't be enjoying themselves.I'll just shut up but surely...something can be done ? Yep the only probable solution is to stop buying their shit but that in all likelyhood won't happen.

The world is a fucked up place, we all now...

But to blame the UN is a totally wrong move imo.
They have their rules for the intervention.

And the US seems to be really really tough on the boarder, so they should help Mexico to prevent all of the shit that they don't wan't in their own country.
Grab the problem at the roots.

My english is to bad to really discuss with you eloquent natives;)

Right, that is of course the root of the problem, but it is a neverending cycle which will definitely yield more killing. Piss off the cartels, piss off the local drug lords/gangs, etc. etc. It's a shame and unfortunately I never see that happening.

Joe

Damn man, hope you stay safe!
Sad to hear all the shitty situations all you guys have been to...makes me worship even more that I've been spared with that kind of stuff over here....

Im kind of getting used to this crap now...

...Tamaulipas is ok right now. Chihuahua and Cd. Juarez are where the "plaza" is being fought over. Pretty much everyone is home after 8 p.m. here. it's actually very stupid for anyone to be out after 9 p.m.

plus...just about every other day, bodies are found hanging in bridges, or heads stucked in poles. (i know, you might think, "that sounds like a horror movie") i ain't kidding you guys, this is what the Cartels are doing. you still think im joking...check this out:

I don't know about you Overload...but the craziest thing they've done here, was that they killed this one guy, they chopped him to pieces, and they made "fritanga" with his body. (they grilled him with onions and tomato) they didn't eat him, of course, but the next day the police found the body cooked.
