Just heard two granades.

Yeah, well they sometimes pay the artists to write the songs and sometimes artist alone make those song, but they can get troubles doing that, there are some cases where they kill the artists cause they sing about their enemies, as papaguapique said.

Thanks Carlos, i appreciate it a lot!

yeap...they've killed may of artist around here for not knowing a "corrido" song during one of their "private parties" or just because they sing about their enemies like overload said.

but if you think about it...corridos are pretty sweet!, just imagine yourself crousin' around listening to a song that was written just for you and your accomplishments...(even if those accomplishments are pretty messed up)

yet another reason why law-abiding citizens of every country should be able to own and carry weapons if they choose.... it's proven over and over again that when the law-abiding populace of any region is allowed to enact their right to self-defense, via legally owned personal handguns, the violent crime rates in that region go down... usually quite dramatically.

i guess things work kind of differently around here James, whether you have a gun or not, you can't mess with the cartels...even the government fears them.

Let me explain you something, this is an everyday situation around here:

say, you have a 2009-2010 car/pickup truck, and you're crusin' the city around 9 or 10 o'clock (which would be a really stupid thing to do around here). You WILL get pulled over by one of these guys, he's gonna pull you down, and take away your truck. If you get lucky, they'll let you go but they'll kick your ass first. If you fight back, you get killed.

Now...say you have your gun with you....

same thing happens, you pull out your gun, and you kill one of them and get away. Eventually, they'll find you, and kill your loved ones first, and then you. Or even worse, they'll kill your loved ones in front of you. (and don't even worry, the police isn't even going to investigate you or do anything about it)

so...yeah...i know you approve the whole having a gun thing, but that just wouldn't work around here.

Is just like that, you can´t fight back with them, or defend yourself and yours, they now are using this tactic, they establish "Check Points" at random places in cities and highways and they take you down your car and take your car away from you, with 10 AK-47 pointing at you, just like that, they use those cars for kidnaping and make car bombs etc. it´s now terrorism in fact. You can feel impotence in general here, is a sad situation, you can´t do nothing, and the goverment seems to be a part of them too, we just wish you don´t mess with them at any point of your daily life. oh and other thing, they seem to be stronger than the fucking Mexican Army.

A handgun won´t do shit against these guys, that´s why even the police is outgunned by the drug dealers. Actually the most famous "narcocorrido" song here is about that. Well, not exactly a narcocorrido as the music style that they use here is called "proibidão" (it´s very similar to miami beat). You can check it below with english captions (gotta click on the triangle button).

Funny thing is that the BOPE (our SWAT) also did a "proibidão" and used to blast it through speakers of their armoured vehicle during Favela operations (!!). Here´s the most famous one:

Lyrics translation:

BOPE is going to catch you
Men in Black, what is your mission?
Break in the favela and let the bodies hit the floor
Men in Black, what do you do?
I do stuff that scares even Satan

Dogs are barking
Children are crying
Scumbags on the run
It´s BOPE in the house
It´s BOPE killing

Die hard elite squad
Kill one, kill'em all
Also going to catch you

Thing is fucked up.
Do the police in Mexico also make songs to retaliate the drug dealers?
