Oof. Kind of lifts Anneke's (The Gathering) singing style, but without the latter's feeling for good melody. Overall, LC are not the most exciting band.

I cannot listen to gathering anymore. Bands like Cynic and Death ruined gathering for me i still dig mandilon but thew newer ones i get tired off after the first 3 or 4 minutes and i always have 2 more minutes of song left....Its ok but at least in Nightime birds they make the songs too long. I do not specially like the vibrato but i followed the simpsons advice and took autohypnosis courses to ignore vibrato in any singer, so i could listen to heavy metal.
Lacuna Coil along with Lullacry Beseech and Flowing Tears are about the only bands i consider simplistic yet they are either catchy enough or say what they want to say in a short time for me to love them. They songs do not grow old after4 or 5 minutes mainly because they do not last 4 or 5 minutes, you gotta be a musical genious to keep a song for more than that, Like Opeth ( BlackRose imortal is a masterpiece ) or jazz legends of the 50s and 60s. I think making short consistend catchy songs that come together nicely in a record is something that bands that rely in Simplistic styles should look to do.

i agree. i like flowing tears too. i don't think i'd say i respect them per se, because their music is the height of simple. but that's the album (jade) that i listen to when i want a dark lullaby while in bed. i like her voice a lot -- she's the only female metal singer i know with a low alto voice like that, and it sounds great because it's her true range.
