One of the bands I was pissed to miss this year at ProgPower (first ProgPower I did not go to) ws Adagio...but today I saw them here in Barcelona and they put on a great show even though there were only about 100 people at the venue. Stephan Forte is truly an animal on guitar, and the est of the band is great as well. The new singer seems to be a very cool and funny guy and was getting the crowd involved all the time. They were the headliners (with David Valdes, a guitar shredder from Spain, Mindflow (Brasilian Prog Metal band) and Sacred (Spanish Heavy metal band) opening the concert). The venue was not great and the sound was so-so, but still they put on quite a show!
This small venue was a big change from last weekends concerts when I saw Nightwish with Sonata Arctica (10.000 people) and Saxon with Chinchilla (close to 2.000 people). NIghtwish is really huge here and they had to move them to a bigger venue since tickets sold out in a matter of days. Here in Europe they include fireworks, flamethrowers and even confetti in their shows. They played a flawless show, had a great sound, and a great visual show. SOnata Arctica was boring...mainly the fault of the singer who truly SUCKS live.
Saxon was also great and had the placing rocking for 2 and a half hours! Joerg Michael on drums is a great addition for them.Chinchilla was pretty good, especially the singer.
Next weekend its Therion with Tristania and Trail of Tears, then Epica with Lullacry and Visions of Atlantis....and in a couple of weeks I will finally get to see Rage again...been waiting for that since their great show at PPIV!
