I can't like only old Metallica because then im some poser? New Metallica can lick my sack. The singing was lame, and everything they stood for in their early days changed. It used to be getting drunk and playing faster and louder than anyone, and it turned into "i got out of rehab, lets discuss this with eachother, I think, you FEEL you need to drink, this makes me feel sad"
Lars Ulrich said "We need to cut out all solos in the new album, because the trend in metal these days are that no one wants solos."
Not a direct quote, but it was very similar.
These comment pisses me off to no end, and epitimizes what metallica has become. It went from the "we do what we want fuck you" additude, to the "lets do what will get mroe people to like us" additude. They wanted to change their music to sell more and adapt to the times, instead of just playing what comes out.
As for St Anger, its impossilbe to defend. The song St Anger is the same lyrics repeated over and over. WTF is Madly in Anger? Overly used boring riffs, that stretch out to songs that should have ended after 2 minutes. Lets not forget the Drums sound like fucking garbage cans.
Frantic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tock! Again, wtf? Someone should put a wig on hedfield and get him drunk.

and what the hell? Most people i know dig solo's, as do i very VERY much! What's up with that.
But hey...it's not our fault that metallica screwsup, like this they lost many tr00 fans, but i don't think they really seem to bother as they get new fans, for their new style, right?

Kirk said that ppl knew he could do solos... so he did not feel the need to do some in St-Anger.
Lars said he wasn't really inspired with his drum fills... so he did what was natural then : shit.

i mean, some of their music is alright, but i can't get pass how much of assholes they are.
i once read an interview where lars was talking about how they have the 'right' to act how they do because they've done a lot for music... i wanted to puke. they've barely scratched the surface when compaired to what the Beatles have done (and still do today). metallica has influenced metal, i'll give them that... but metal is such a small genre of music. basically, metallica blows.
