Why is Insomnium always compared with COB, Norther and Kalmah? They sound nothing like any of them.

Or... They sound almost identical to them.

Norther is good. Insomnium is a bore.

I've never heard Insomnium... or Kalmah. Norther seem to be decent, but they lack substance.

Kalmah are possibly the greatest melodeath band on the face of the planet imho. All their albums are excellent, but personally I favour Swamplord.

Norther are alright, but rather average. I've gone off them, and should really edit my sig.
Insomnium are quite good.

Another two large melodeath bands are Dark Tranquility, who have some decent songs, and Disarmonia Mundi, who imho are completely crap but you'll like them if you like Norther.
Its the obscure bands that are best.

You guys should really all listen to Skyfire. Also Disarmonia Mundi completely kicks ass, and before Speed (Soilwork) joined they made a prog death album (Nebularium).

Yeah I listened to Disarmonia Mundi a little while ago and they were great.
