I heard Kamelot on the radio about a week ago and it was
The Edge of Paradise from album Epica(which isn't released yet, am I correct?)and it was great \m/

I realized that I hadn't heard anything of them before, but I recall
many people here listing them among their favorite bands.

So, Could you guys describe their music style, because the song I heard reminded me of SympX...
cool riffing, great orchestration, good singer...:)

[edit]

You could also tell what is your favorite album by Kamelot, thanks

Hi Lapazeus.

You are right. The forthcoming album, Epica, has not been released yet. January 13, 2003 is the date.

Kamelot's music can easily be described as Epic Power Metal, but not in the vein of Rhpasody (as far as the "epic" goes). They have developed their own unique musical style. Their singer is Roy Khan (ex-Conception).

I'd suggest, you should go check them out by listening to samples from their albums & Center Of The Universe (from Epica), and by visiting their website.

Favorite album? I can't really say, but "Karma", for me, is their strongest output so far.

Im a deep fan of Kamelot, but in my opinion their style can be described as Melodic Power Metal, cause they dont work on sagas, fantasies and all that stuff.

What to say about Kamelot??

Roy Khan, great singer, maybe he is the best in Power Metal business, you will find his voice as elegant as champagne. :)

Thomas Youngblood: Not as virtuoso as MJR:D but his solos are good and hi has an incredible tecnique on acoustic guitar.

Glen and Casey are one of the best rythmic section nowdays.

As i said before, if you like metal ballads, Kamelot kick ass¡¡¡
Get the Fourth Legacy and Karma¡¡¡¡

Great description!

Kamelot is all about QUALITY. One of the most high-quality power metal bands in the world. They use a lot of orchestral elements and some odd non-metal instruments to enhance the music. Roy Khan is a vocal god... he has such a smooth voice. Check out his work from his previous band Conception, which was amazing.

Kamelot really know how to write great songs. My favorite album is "Karma"... but I think the new one might be even better... from what I've read of it.

I checked out Kamelot a little while ago because of the people on this board too. I got "Karma" and its great, they are definitely one of the better power metal groups out there today.

I checked out 2 songs. Man, this band is tight, and a very unique and original sound. Just ordered 3 CDs. Thanks, Lapazeus, for starting the thread, and Forum friends for the replies. The Forum is great to find out about good music.:)

I love this forum, I've already found at least 5 great bands from this forum because of other people :)

Epica definitely is not of the quality Karma.

A lot of the new music is boring and repetitive. The band says they got more progressive but i actually see a de-evolution from their music on the last disc.

Roy does sound good, but thats about it for the new one. I was really looking forward to Epica, but since i have heard some songs, I know that if I do purchase it, it will just be collecting dust in my collection.

Therefore I will not get it.

Save yourself the hassle and just get "Karma" and "the 4th legacy" which are their best IMO

But if you really want quality...just go straight to Conception (who have not broken up, but rather each member has been doing their own thing for a while, and in a couple years they will have a new cd out)

Their best is "In Your Multitude" I dont want any disputes, it was their best :D

Kamelot does not mean Progressive Rock/Metal, Kamelot are "progressing" in their music.

Icicle, "Epica" is NOT "Karma" Both are stand-alone albums. And "high-hopes" are always being crushed, if one is "expecting too much" in the first place. ;)

I think, that the listeners should decide themselves, eh? ;)

What I have heard from Epica so far sounds very good. Don't listen to Soul of Ice.
Karma is definitely their bets album thus far, with 4th Legacy a close second.

Hey man its my opinion, and I am sure a lot of people agree with me but dont want to say. There are only 2 songs that i like on the disc. Roy and Thomas do a poor job in the lyrics department on this disc. Come on, how many times can you say "Carry On" in one song?

I still like the band, im just saying that they could have done much much better.

I have 3 Kamelot CDs ordered ! Merry Christmas to me. Now, can anyone comment on Italy's Thy Majestie, please? Do you like this band? I'm looking for some interesting music with really good drumming to get for my son, the prog metal drummer. Thanks!

Did someone say Kamelot????

Thomas and Glen both have endorsements from Jackson. Look in the issue of Guitar World with George Harrison on the cover...about three pages in Jackson has a collage and lo and behold, there they be!!
