Katatonia : Anyone know what Synth they use?!?

No, Im not trying to rip their sound

But in the Great Cold Distance, their synth tones add so much to the album. Personally, I only play around with the synths in my purchased copy of Cubase 5. They do their job, but they dont give me that "crazy style of synth tone I hear in that album.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction?!

I'd say most of that weird synth stuff is anders' guitar with sustainer PU's and some stuff on the boss gt-3...

Sure, have a listen to "My Twin" (which is my personal favorite) Even the intro and the first verse. Theres a "pulsing" that adds such a cool vibe. The chorus as well, has some "string" / synth behind it. However, now that you mention the Boss processor, that could definately be it, it's almost like a preset I remember from Guitar Rig a while back!!!

A little background synth can add so much flavor and depth to a song. These guys fdo a great job of adding that, without overdoing it.

ahh... makes sense, i kinda just assumed it was a synth, I forgot that lots of todays processors offer some pretty crazy "synth" effects.
