Katatonia Guitar Tone

DemonOfTheFall

The 1st REAL Demon here..
so i love Katatonia, like a lot, and i'm a guitarist, pretty serious too, and i got a marshall mode 4 head and a marshall 1960a cab. it's fucking sweet, to the max \m/ ... anyway u know how amps work, they got highs, mids, and lows. i've been messing with this baby a lot, and i'd mess with it more if i didn't work so goddamn much... but anyway, i figure i'd peek my head in here and see if there's any like-minded guitarists that know how to get that sweet katatonic sound.. mmm... u know what i'm talking about...

anyway, if anybody's got any suggestions as to how to achieve particular tones that are similar, if not the actual, settings reflecting those of Katatonia, let me know. i'm looking for that LFDGD sound or even VE. however, i have always wanted to achieve that BMD sound. everytime i listen to that cd, i go nuts, it's amazing. or how about that sound in saw u drown, or stalemate (GOD I LOVE THAT SONG). anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

these guys have influenced much of my playing to this day, if u guys r reading this, i just want u guys to know my life would not be the same without u guys. i listen to this music and it just makes everything okay; it makes me realize that there's a group of guys from sweden that are gifted, talented, intelligent, and understand how to express true emotion. YOU GUYS FUCKING ROCK \m/ !! and btw, WHEN THE FUCK WILL U COME TO CALIFORNIA? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I MUST SEE U BEFORE I DIE!! and sweden's kinda far...

I have often asked this question on these forums with a lot of poor responses usuall because i get told to leave it and forget it.. but why... its a great tone, thousands of people copy Jimi Hendrix tone, so much so there is a pedal for it, so why cant we delve into the Katatonia sound.

I've found the older sound to be a mix of delay and phase, however too much will shoot you into Paradise Losts sound, which you don't want, well not at the moment.

Never quite got it, I always loved the way particularly on TD the guitars sit beautifully behind the rhythm guitars yet feel so prominent.
