Obviously I have no fucking problem with fucking cuss words and god damn shit, but they shitbastard generally take away from the cuntwhore meaing of whatever the asshole you're trying to get across mittens.

Yeah, there's a little Tool there, but not terribly noticeable, at least on my first listen. I'll definitely pick up a few of their albums, I believe it was the end of track 6 that really struck me last night.

I agree that there is a noticeable decrease in the quality of the lyrics on Viva Emptiness (with some exceptions, Will I Arrive and Walking By A Wire are as striking as ever. It's also worth noting that there is speculation about there being a storyline to the album, though the band has denied this.), and Jonas does sound awkward when saying "fucker".

Okay, whatever the hell track 6 is kicks ass.

His voice is great, the lyrics make me laugh though. It seems that many people say "fucker" in a very silly way. The best way is to scream it, get the point across.

Well I've listened to Viva Emptiness and Brave Murder Day about 234-09845243fdsd422 times a piece now, really great stuff, although I find both a little uneven across the tracks. Some are brilliant, some are good, and a few do nearly nothing for me. Tonight's Decision I've heard once and it was quite different, I'll have fun dissecting that one further in the future.

Tonight's Decision I've heard once and it was quite different, I'll have fun dissecting that one further in the future.

It's good, although way too similar to WEEZER to be considered 'different' IMO. Listen to track #3, "in death, a song", and tell me that isn't Weezer's "Buddy Holly". Guitar tone is identical, even with that *touch* of feedback et al.

That's the thing about latter day Katatonia, I can't help but think that I've heard it all before somewhere, but I can't quite put my finger on where. With that said, there are times when Katatonia is all I want to listen to.

Yeah, I don't think much of this stuff is highly original, it's just good.

Everything by Katatonia gets a HUGE thumbs up from me. Along with Anathema, they are the only band that has gone from heavier to more mainstream sounding without losing focus on their original intent. Katatonia is still in the business of making depressing music. I believe the call it shoe-gazer metal.

I just recommend everything from DoDS up to Discouraged Ones. They may have kept their focus, but they couldn't keep it interesting. It's called shoe-gazer metal 'cause it's so damn boring that looking at your shoes is more exciting. haha. Esoteric are infinitely more depressing. This stuff is manic depressive.

I mean, maybe I'm nuts when I make the comparison to Weezer for that song, but I swear that's all I can think of each time I hear it! And it is totally way too happy sounding, especially considering it's called "In Death, A Song". I'm surprised he didn't start going on about someone owing him money.
