Katatonias Style?

what would you call Katatonia? Darkwave Metal or what?

I would say that Katatonia currently is probably very dark almost goth rock with metal tints. One of those bands that cannot truely be defined. Most people call them "Dark Metal" as dark metal seems to be a very generalized term for music in the metal community that cannot truly be defined.

I have two Katatonia albums [Last Fair Deal Gone Down and Tonight's Decision], but, I was just wondering what music they play... though, I will buy other albums when I find them.

hmn, well i call them rock i suppose, but not traditional rock though, its a big word is rock, theyre my fav band so i dont care really what they are, good i say.

Gothic Doom is a legit enough genre, so that may make things easier for you It's what I'd call them, and around the time of DO, it's what the band called themselves too (well, in an interview I read).

But now they ain't! Nor are they doom, Yourdeadgroom. They must perceive things differently over there in sheep country!

if marylin manson is goth rock, then katatonia is the pure embodiment of goth! definitely, you could call katatona's current style as melancholic/gothic rock/metal...
