KHAN returns to singing... at Weddings.

Eh that performance sucked ass, but there's been way worse I think. Seen Mastodon on Letterman?

I've never seen Kamelot live with Roy.When I clicked on the link from Glenn showing the Wacken video,I guess I was just so surprised that Khan would be that bad.Yeah I know there's people on this very forum that kept saying he couldn't sing anymore, but I just let that go in one ear and out the other until hearing that.I'm sure there is worse,I just wasn't prepared for Khan to sound that bad I guess.

I have always been a huge Kamelot fan, although very disappointed in Khan for bailing on ProgPower and ultimately the band.....however this performance is one of the craziest things I have ever heard. Bad doesn't even begin to describe this vocal performance. I have heard Vince Neil sing more lyrics correctly in his drunkest performance(Tampa about 4-5 years ago).

Was there any explanation for this performance? I wonder this because every time I have seen Khan live he always sounded great.

The (unofficial) explanation I had heard was a combination of a cold and in-ear monitor issues. :/ I do know that somebody on the forum made an off-hand disappointed comment about not knowing "what kinds of drugs he was on," and getting promptly shouted down because that was apparently offensive...

This video pretty much confirms that Khan's voice cannot stand up to a night-after-night performance. He sounds great when well-rested, but as the Wacken video shows, constant use takes its toll pretty harshly on the guy's vocal cords.

I think touring really takes a toll on him. I've seen Kamelot and Khan 5 times and some were good, some were really bad. By the time Kamelot usually makes it over here to the west coast they have been touring for a while and it really shows in his voice. Oh well, last year in Atlanta was the best I've heard Kamelot sound in many years and I'm definitely planning on seeing them with Fabio. Khan is totally replaceable, but I wish him well in his new wedding singer career.

Y'all are pretty harsh on the guy. When Circus Maximus played at PPUSA a few years ago, Michael Eriksen sounded off as well (no quite as bad as Khan at Wacken, but still disappointingly off). All our favorite singers have their off days.

Seriously? Yes, all singers have their off days but that was a train wreck. I didn't see Eriksen last year, so I can't comment but it sounded like he did a credible job.

Dude, that wasn't a "bad performance" ... That was seriously the worst crap I've ever witnessed from a supposedly professional musician. Khan should be embarrassed by his "performance" at Wacken. My deaf dog sings better than that ... and I don't even have a dog!

Just don't give it a tug, unless it's dead of course.....

That Wacken vid was pretty bad! :yuk:

Eriksen was great last year (for Kamelot). I was referring to when he played at PPUSA with Circus Maximus (and the previous two nights with other special events). I think Eriksen has a strong "fanboy" following, much like Khan, so a lot of people are gonna praise his performance no matter what. But yeah, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the video with Khan. Both Khan and Eriksen are two of my favorite studio singers, but I've had mixed experiences with them live.

To me it just sounded as if Khan's voice was extremely damaged...It almost looked painful for him to try and sing...I'd be interested to see if there was some type of medical throat condition that was causing his downfall..... If that's the case, I don't blame him at all for quitting Kamelot, and then I probably won't buy his "I found religion" excuse, but if that's the case, he should have quit Kamelot earlier.

Regardless, Khan use to be an amazing singer!!!!!...I think why people are angry is because he didn't admit to his severe throat issues, but he continued to go on tour with the band turning horrible performance after horrible perforance due to his voice condition....

But man, his voice sound completely damaged in the 2nd video, but AMAZING in the first video, go figure????

Eriksen sounds great on the Circus Maximus cd's, live he does a good job and did a fair job with Kamelot last year - but as I've stated before and I now say it again, he has no stage presence at all, absolutely BORING to watch!!!!

And many of us have seen Khan multiple times, and been disappointed more often than not. the first time I saw Kamelot, Khan was ON. Absolutely flawless. The times after that, he was terrible. Khan had an awful lot of "off days."

I don't know what you're talking about, I've never heard him better, except when he's inhaling.

Eriksen has a voice on him that's nuts. I don't care for circus maximus at all, and I feel his stage presence is downright boring, but the dude can sing, and he sounded GREAT.

I thought his stage presence was a bit off with Kamelot (probably due to the rushed rehearsal), and while he could sing, I didn't immediately turn into a fangirl. But when I saw him performing his own material with Circus Maximus a few weeks ago? Holy shit. It felt like he and the rest of the band didn't really need to do anything, because his voice was everything. It filled the entire concert hall almost effortlessly. I've never experienced anything like it before.
