Kids, cars and home electronics

I used the sell Wharfdale's ... they never impressed me. If there was a speaker that sounded flat, this was it. Or maybe that's the point.

i have wharfedale diamond 8.1's and they are super

apparently something happened between 7.1 and 8.1 which made wharfedale suddenly a good brand again after years of being pretty crap

apparently wharfedale was pretty nice in the early 80's, then had a bunch of dark years when they produced cheap crap, then they realized "hey this is not the way to go" and pretty much changed everything, and now they're doing pretty good in the extraordinary-value-for-money game

http://hometheaterreview.com/wharfdale-diamond-81-speakers-reviewed/ this is a pretty glowing review of the ones i have

choice quote:

"This speaker is (sonically) so close to perfect as to be upsetting. It will, if the retailers realise what they have on their hands, destroy the entry-level sector for all other brands." ... "It will do justice, in a 14x22ft room, to £50,000 worth of electronics. Just don't blame me if whatever other speaker you were using ends up gathering dust."

i deliberately try not to care a lot about stuff like this but to me they sound good

then had a bunch of dark years when they produced cheap crap

I think this is when they entered my life ... if I remember correctly we had 2 pairs at $99 and $199 / pair

On one hand, those are intriguing. On the other, I'm not surprised the review has it paired with a fucking Apple product considering the price point.

No, me. The wife is so tired of hearing me talk about speakers I could buy anything I want as long as I shut up about them.
