I'll start by making a recommendation, and your job is to add one to the list.

Autumn Leaves - Embraced by the Absolute
Not your average melodic death, hailing from Denmark.

I wonder if I understood correctly, but

Death: Crystal Mountain

What can I say? A Classic...

only 1?
not 2?
or 3?
u expect me to come up with a single recommendation.... ?
thats tough!

hmmm

ill need time to think..............

ok,
Dimmu Borgir - Kings of the Carnival Creation
i havent liked too much dimmu off earlier albums, but this song is awesome!

The Dimmu Borgir song that other guy mentioned is from 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia', and it's a great album. So different to their other stuff.

Anyway, my recommendation?

For black metal fans: the Thorns self titled album. It's old school black metal with a completely new sound. Vocals by Satyr from Satyricon as well as another guy and drums by Hellhammer.

Quality black metal.... :heh:

"that other guy" eh?
anyway ive only heard this one song off this album so far, is the rest of the album of as high a standard as "Kings of the Carnival Creation"? or is that the stand out track?

Sorry YaYoGakk.... ;)

Yes, Kings of the Carnival Creation is pretty much standard fare for the album. It really is an impressive release. Sure, not everyone likes it, but if you like that song then I can promise you that you'll like the rest of the tracks.

The first four in particular. (KotCC is number 3....)

So go get it....

Ben.

Diabolical Masquerade- All Upon the Perdition Hearze
Thy Serpent- In Blackened Dreams
Falkenbach- When Gjallarhorn will Sound
Extol- Ember
Pan Thy Monium- The Battle of Geeheeb (Dan Swano Alert)

Extol? christian melodic death metal, they're actually very good and that particular song rules Morningrise. they're the first good christian band i've heard ... i plan to be next :)

my choice is Carcass - Heartwork :)

Burning Inside - My Own.

Witness the insane drumming of Richard Christy, psyco drummer of death's master piece TSOP, On his death metal project with some of the most interesting drumming paterns ( or lack of it ) and guitar players that are skilled enough to keep up with him and make the songs sound good ( this is an incredible hard task to me not one that many guitar players could do ). Really hard to find but really worth it.

John Coltrane - Giant Steps.

What do you think of jazz? if you at all like it or anything that looks like it you need to check this improvisation materpiece, Uptempo jazz with one of the most impresive improvised solos i have the pleasure to listen, if you like or understand the more technical side of improvisation and jazz harmony and modulation you will notice this song is changing tonalities incredible fast making it close to imposible to keep up , even an skilled piano player has a hard time keeping up with such amount of Dominats each 2 chords, but John Coltrane makes 2 of the most fluid fast improvisations that go beyond just touching scales and actually create a beautiful melody imho. Really something to see if you think jazz is to soft this song is very uptempo if you cannot get pass the melancholic part of jazz a lot of players master.
