probably THE concert of the year 1/20 The Haunted and KSE in Hamburg..
That info made my day and gave me the perfect idea for a xmas gift for my GF... ...for 10mins
10mins after i got that info the Manager of a musical i just produced gave me a call and said "hey on jan20th is premiere of the musical incl DVD video-shooting, you gotta do the sound and recording, cause we want that dvd to rock".
i always feel responsible for my babys (productions), so i just can't say no (plus i need the money).

would like to, have to go to berlin anyway, cause i gotta talk to a band over there i'm gonna produce in spring (redeema), unfortunately I've got a melodic metal band in studio until the 28th of januar, and taking 2 days off (incl. that musical stuff) is not that cool.
so i told the manager of redeema to come into my studio so we can talk....
i should convince the melodic band to come with me to berlin, so i wouldn't have to drive and the day off would be no problem

KSE is not my favourite but after having seen the dvd i think live they are killer.
there's no doubt bout the haunted though.

what bothers me the most is that i don't have any xmas present for my GF now

but killswitch fuckin kick ass, they write awesome songs,
yes all a bit cheesy but i love it - ya know the kind of energy
they transport is hard to find elsewhere and after a day of jazz
sessions, mahavishnu fuckin orchestra kse FUCKING RULE.
plus all this mean and grim frostbitten metal dudes kinda bore me
to pieces, then adam d. comes on stage - the genius he
undoubtly IS makin fun and not takin everything too serious ...
i'm LOVIN IT! 4 of them went to berklee ?? just listen to the occasional
licks joel throws in between the songs, hes a FUCKIN RIFF MACHINE !!!
all a matter of oppinion but kse have in no way deserved
any bashing at all. they're not oldschool lo-fi but whatever.

Killswitch & The Haunted played here in Dublin last night and can confirm it f'ing rawked. The Ambassador is a decent mid-sized venue and was sold out which added to the vibe. Great mix (my plugs help), some great tones (Adam D's and the bass player from The Haunted especially) and just an allround excellent show. Any reservations I had went out the window. After The Haunted played a brilliant set, I thought Killswitch would be blown off stage, but alas they held their own to say the least.

The Dio encore capped off a great night and they got the bouncer from my local pub up onstage to play cowbell for it. He's a 6'4" black guy who's just as wide as he is tall (think Gilbert Brown for those that remember him). Seeing Adam D try and ride him onstage was funny as shit.

Strangest of all, was that I've now converted the girlfriend into a The Haunted fan which is something I never thought I see the likes of.....

always see them with diezels in videos but it says on their wiki page that Adam uses h&k triamps!?

Unfortunately not. I was to the right of the stage and not up the front and the backline gear wasn't visible from where I was.

They were playing their Caparisons and their tone was one of the best live sounds I've heard in ages. Tight lows, punchy mids and sweet highs. Virtually no bass in the mix though but considering Mike D spends more time pointing than playing it's no great loss in that regard

Both bands are insane but kse has too many gay vocals on the new album, wtf. I'm sure live they kill it though.

Howard nailed it last night....I had my reservations re: big singalong choruses but found myself belting out the likes of Rose of Sharyn and My Curse with the rest of the punters. There wasn't too many poseurs there and those that were got the shit beat of them in the pit, so it was a good night all round.

Adam D telling a fat chick in the front row exactly how he was going to fuck her arse with his thumb, in great detail, was the added "bonus".
