Korn fans suck!

As for Cradle Of Filth, I wouldn't accuse them of selling out if they hadn't sold out. Bottom line.

Most of their fans are kids who thing they are mad and cool.

I remember some guy saying he liked Metal, like Metallica, Korn, System Of A Down but he said he also liked underground stuff like HateBreed, Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir

Underground???

In my opinion people who like Nu-Metal are usually quite young, under 18, and yes most of them do suck.
Most of them are Posers aswell, someone before on the In Flames thread bit was commenting on the Slipknot & R2R thing and they were skitting how the fan looked, saying "I look more Trendy than her"

ARGH!!!

There is a big place in Liverpool City Centre where they all congrigate to "hang out" and do stuff. Most Nu-Metal fans don't know real metal.

yeah, i like all metal, nu-metal, thrash, speed, power, death, black, gothic metal, you name it

oh and BTW i'm 13 so i can be called one of those kids who are under 18 and obviously likes nu-metal =/

though i find bands like cradle of filth and morbid angel better than say system of a down, slipknot, or marilyn manson, etc

whoopsies, i made a little error, the site is www.slitheryn.com its pretty funny listening to a 12 year old act angry really...lol

thats pretty sad, they needed corey taylor to help them on their songs, it was produced by him and i recognized his voice in it, singing with the kid, thats just funny

my god these kids are a disgrace to metal, most kids are too into punk and the shitty stuff coming out, if there were more 12 year olds into death metal then they would probably be funny watching them try to sound like nile or something

but seriously, i play guitar and thought about singing vocals to make demos to show some people around school, i'm thirteen and already going to be in my friends demo(he's 21 and in a well-known local thrash band) my stuff is a little faster and extreme then the new shit coming out, and i'm just some fucked up kid who plays guitar(a well for my age)

No offence intended to anyone of course.

In my post I did say Most, there are obvious exceptions to this rule and some people like Death Metal Black Metal and Nu-Metal, those people will grow out of Nu-Metal eventually I think.

Nu-Metal is killing itself anyway.

Most people are wise to the money making whores and have had enough, I read somewhere that Korns last album took 2 weeks to sell what it's previous album sold in a weekend, doesn't suprise me.

"Nu-metal" is killing itself. Soon, only the greater bands will stand as the others are washed away.

Mudvayne, Sevendust, Godsmack, System Of A Down, Incubus, Deftones, KoRn, and (hed) p.e. And maybe Cold.

Of course, few of those bands are actually alt-metal in the first place, so it's a given they'll live.

Those are bands I am talking about, they will be unpopular soon.

Already explained about Kron and why they are going out of style, Deftones think they are the best thing sice the advent of Fire, SOAD are a joke in my mind, they actually had to call their album "Steal this record" when in fact it should have been called "buy this stupidly overpriced and utterly dire piece of corporate shite at a 1000% mark up, you impressionable 12 year old" that would have been more appropriate.

Incubus, don't make me laugh.

My musical evolution was basically this.

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc led to Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Coal Chamber, which led to Slipknot.

Then I bought Morbid Angel's Formulas Fatal to the Flesh and Emperor's IX Equilibrium. I believe I made my point:p

I started off listening to my dad's record collection - basically, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, Motorhead, The Pirates, Van Halen, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Marillion, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, that kind of stuff. A few years on, a friend at school introduced me to Nirvana, and that got me looking for more modern rock stuff. I stumbled across Metallica and Faith No More, then just went crazy, searching for as many new bands as I could possibly find. I was pretty much totally ignorant of genres, so at one point I was listening to Korn one moment, and Morbid Angel the next.

Then I started reading about rock and metal, learning some history about the bands I was listening to, learning to distinguish between genres and basically directing my avenues of exploration for the future. Worked out pretty well for me!

incubus's SCIENCE album is not dumb because it takes an inventine look at alt rock. it's funky.

similarly, popular bands who are doing something different (rusted root, jamiroquai, older [and to a lesser extent, newer] incubus) are all good.

but nu-metal has no saving grace except that it's easily disgestible. slytheryn get up, act angry, play power chords, and there's the end of it. so what? if you want angry music, pick any one of the swedish melodeath bands, or morbid angel. anger and brutality do not mean simple and contrived.

the fact is, nu-metal is for sullen teenagers who want cathartically angry music, but aren't musically inclined enough to bother with real art. instead, they buy into the nu-metal image, and worship the genre because they can emulate it. any schmuck with a guitar and a cheap amp can play a korn song, but who can play morbid angel? who can cover stuff from chainheart machine? not tweens, i'll tell you that.

And there's nothing worse than lazy rebels

ok..my musical evolution composed of the following:kiss, ozzy, metallica, deftones, slipknot, godsmack(yes i went and downgraded), and then iced earth, slayer, CoF(what a bunch of fags!), opeth, death, and then well...yeah im 15 listening to more thoughtful bands like Katatonia, My Dying Bride, and Deinonychus...and Immortal

I cant wait til nu-metal finally dies and the name metal isnt associated with "bands" made up with the "badboy" from the backstreet boys

nu-metal is dying out and loads of the former nu-metal fans are moving onto proper metal and from an elitest point of view i fucking hate it, and wish they'd fuck off but im (hopefully) not an elitest so im not too bothered by it. Most of them are going all gothy and saying they like manson, murderdolls etc... i think its one of the reasons why children of bodom, the haunted, opeth, my dying bride are getting way popular, well they are in my eyes, way more than they used to

I heard of Queen when I was younger. But never thought there was so many different genres of music till a few years ago.
I got into nu-metal first - Linkin Park, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach. They got me into this whole music scene. Got more into Rock I guess. I loved Incubus at one point because they were different from what I'd heard before.
Now I'm into bands like My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Anathema, The Haunted, Soilwork etc.. after hearing Black Sabbath, over a year ago now. So here I am after a very nice friend of mine played me some albums, copied some albums, sent me songs etc. And I can listen to 'nu-metal' and the 'popular' rock bands people listen to at my age at school, and I can honestly say I don't like it. The talent is way less than what I prefer to listen to now. Though I am still grateful for having got into metal in the first place by listening to nu-metal, and I can kind of see why people listen to it, I can't myself. Theres better bands and genres to listen to.

But don't do what many new metalheads do, they find some good music and stop looking for more, there are countless new bands and styles out there which are as good as (and better than) the bands you listed. So keep digging. :)
