Krankenstein+ or Rev+?

I also have Marshall cabs with gt75's and an EnglXXL with V30's plus Line6 w. "custom Celestions", so I figured that the KranK cab with different speakers, blended with...and so on. I get a good price so I'll jump on the cab at least. ;)

That's a tough call between the Rev and the Stein - I would think the Rev would win in a heartbeat, but a lot of people have had good results with the 'Stein - seems like the latter would be too buzzsaw-y, though...

I think most would agree that good results are easier to get with the Rev series. And the Krank cabs get mixed reviews, no solid opinion base one way or the other really.

Yeah, I'll note that I haven't used a Stein, but again I'm under the impression that both are pretty similar anyway. Bear in mind Andy, James and Dave Otero have used different models of them and all achieve incredible sounds. I think with either one you won't be disappointed.

FWIW I have tried out the Rev (obviously since I have one) and 'stein out a number times with various cabs. Cab's were, Mesa Trad, Mesa OS (not on the 'stein), Krank Rev, Laney, Line6 and another brand, maybe Crate (I forget). Mesa wins hands down, IMHO, no competition. When it somes to the Head, in the room, the Rev sounded much fuller/larger and less sizzly than the 'stein and I swapped between them quite a few times. I haven't recorded/mic'd the 'stein so I cannot comment on that, so based on my "Live" comparison, I much preferred the Rev. But that's what it may come down to, personal preference.

As mentioned by others there have been some pro-recordings done with both heads that sound great. Either would make you smile.

Wow, I was just at a show, and one of the bands had just one guitarist, running a Krankenstein through...gulp...a Behringer Ultrastack cab :waah: And it still sounded fucking fantastic...

Guitarhack, when you say the stein is sizzly, and Dimebag in fact liked sizzly guitar sounds, I remember when I tested the JCM800 Kerry King, and that was sizzly. That tipped the scale towards the rev+, and since I don't own a Behringer cab... ;)

Thanks for all help, guys. Rev+ it is. And a cab.

Chris promised me the Rev+ for recording like 6 months ago-----but since german distributor sucks it's taking way too long to get here.....
still looking forward to trying it and comparing it to the stein though

I'm using the Axe-FX, yes. I'm really happy with it, but for some people it's not "good enough" so I tend to keep it in the studio for recording purposes. And "look-ma-I'm-using-a-krank" pictures ;)
