Not a huge fan of these guys, but this album impressed the hell out of me. The songwriting and musicianship has improved 10x.

This album smokes, imo.

As the Palaces Burn was top notch.

Their last one was insipid and uninspired.

I'm pulling some hope for the new one still, although that song they were previewing on their website a while back was completely lame.

Cool.

The one they posted on their website was ok. A good drinking song or live song, but the rest is pretty dark and heavy. Stuff they become famous for and more.

what's wrong with sounding like another band. almost every band does it. i believe that's what they call "influences".

Agreed, but theres a blurry line between "influenced by" and "copying", which that one song i heard did indeed cross. Also, i dont like pantera very much. However, obviously i wont judge the album by one song.

to an extent... i see how people can say they sound like pantera... but at other times... i don't see any reference to pantera at all. the track "redneck" i didn't really like. i think it lacks compared to the first singles off of the last 2 cds. i liked ashes of the wake. i LOVE as the palaces burn. new american gospel is alright. randy's vocal style has changed a lot since then. i think they've progressed a lot over time. i can see how some say ashes is a step backward... but i think what made me like as the palaces burn more was the production. i love the clean production on Ashes... but it doesn't fit Lamb of God as much as the raw sound did.

i dunno... i'll still listen to, and possibly buy the new cd, or maybe just download it. but i definately look forward to gigantour to see them. they haven't put on a bad show live, and i've seen them like 4 times now.

yeah thats true about the production. the raw production fits LoG soooo much better than the clean. thats what makes ATPB my favorite album. im not going to be able to see them on gigantour but i was lucky enough to see that at the unholy alliance tour. best night ever...

Lamb of God was better when they were known as Slayer.....

"As Palaces Burn" was a killer album. It sounded like shit though. When you guys are referring to the "production", you really mean it was a raw sounding "mix". Devin Townsend did a fantastic job producing that album. They got signed by a bigger label for "Ashes..." and were forced to rush and record new material - hence the mediocrity. I figure that the new one should be much better. I'll have to force myself to check it out because that "Ashes..." record sucked ass big time.

Haven't listened to this record yet, though the only LoG CD I can half tolerate is As the Palaces Burn, so I think I'm just gonna skip this one.
