benighted...its not a horrible analogy. considering some people enjoy classic/traditional music over modern and elaborate music. the same way i prefer NES to any other video game platform created since. but im also an extremely casual (practically never) video game player. you obviously love to sit in front of the computer playing video games all day due to how personally offended you got by the bashing of halo on here.

but regardless, your notoriously bad taste has defaulted you to non-negotiable status once again in my eyes. if you told me halo spouted $100 bills everytime you shot someone id still think you are a complete tool. id consider getting that fixed before you bother arguing with anyone in the future. tbph

hmm so you might say you prefer the NES because of the nostalgia factor yet in regards to music, you tend to bash people if they like music because of that fact just because you think the music is of bad taste? I feel some double standards creeping in...

and notoriously bad taste? In regards to what exactly seen as you seem to think you know so much about me? Please enlighten me Mr know-it-all...

no. i play NES once in a while because of the nostalgic factor and to kill sometime whenever im bored and have a moment. video games are boring and silly for the most part. i listen to music often, avidly and am very passionate about it. my motives being the same for both activities is far from the reality, nor makes any sense whatsoever. i bet you think i only eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches everyday because of the nostalgia from when i was a kid?

edit: you seem to get more and more stupid every day. jesus tap dancing christ.

So why are you trying to act like your opinion is so superior to mine in regards to Halo when you admit you know fuck all about video games ?

actually i know a lot about video games dipshit. i said i dont care about them and think theyre silly. doesnt mean im ignorant to them.

again...more stupid...and more stupid.

Halo is overrated and never once did anything that a first person shooter didn't do before it, which is why it's completely forgettable. Console-whores that forgot about these semi-important things called PCs are generally the ones that tout Halo. Counter-strike is fun but can't hold a candle to UT2004, mostly because CS tries to be realistic but fails 50% of the time, i.e. shooting someone in the face with a shotgun at point blank range won't always kill them but occasionally popping 3 rounds into someone's leg with a pistol from 50 yards will. But only sometimes. Which is why it becomes frustrating. Anyway, UT2004 has more game modes than first-person shooters that Halo ripped off so.....close thread. Or talk about Lamb of God more.

Unreal Tournament???? Rubbish.

Halo is perfection :kickass:

are you just pretending to know peewee?

really... arguing about which video game is better is going to go exactly where arguing what the best opeth song is has gone many times before... to the shit. its absolutely your opinion and thats ok, so dont bash other people for thinking NES's are cooler than xboxes or halos better than UT2k4... you wont change there mind. getting offended because someone doesnt like your console or game is ridiculous.

Actually cs >>> UT2004 because of the much more varied and complex tactics that are needed to compete succesfully in its competition. UT2004 is for the most part a brainless shooter, no in depth tactics or strategies can be applied to gain an advantage to the opponent, only very basic ones.

Which proves you haven't played it much. The amount of teamplay and ways you can interact with the team that is required to actually be GOOD at half the modes of UT2004 is staggering. Capturing and defending points while utilizing land vehicles, air vehicles, and being on foot while enemies are doing the same adds a lot more dimension to the game than it initially sounds like it would because the vehicle design is well done. Several of them requires two or more people to pull off an effective attack. Not to mention the combinations that can be pulled off with the weapons such as multiple people using the link gun to make it more powerful. It has just as much strategy as CS albeit a different kind of strategy.

That's not tactics, that's just basic gameplay and making optimal use of game features, like vehicles and weapon abilities. I'm talking about real strategy here, like planning an attack with your entire team where everyone knows what to do, constant microphone communication, having a team tactic ready for every kind of situation. In UT2004, you cannot go this into depth into the tactics because the game is so fast and has such powerful weapons. Another very important aspect is sound. In cs sneaking has its use and you can actually listen to the enemy to figure out where they're going, what they're shooting with, and what they are doing. In UT2004 you have nothing of the sort, sound is very unimportant and because of the power and whackiness of the weapons much tactics employed in cs have no use in UT. UT2004 is a kid's game compared to cs.

You haven't convinced me. Like I said, they both have strategy, just different kinds. A fast pace does not nullify tactics. Isn't making optimal use of game features using tactics? How is it not tactics when it is applied in the necessary situation in tandem with teammates to gain the edge?

And if a kid's game = not having situations where you unload a round of buckshot into someone's face and then they shoot you twice with a pistol and get a kill then I say bring on the kid's games.

If that happened it means only one piece of the buckshot probably hit the face, so you would have to be shooting from long range (which is stupid if you have a shotgun) and since you can buy a helmet, logically it wouldn't kill. I assure you, if you hit someone in the head full on from close range with a shotgun in cs, he/she will die! As for being shot twice with a pistol in the leg and getting killed, that's only possible if your health was already really low, making it logical from the combined blood loss of previous wounds and the shots to the legs to be killed. It's impossible to kill someone if you hit them twice in the leg with a pistol and they have full health. I think you're just frustrated because you got pwned in some game by a guy with a pistol .
