Latency... oh crap.

I have this horrible MIDI latency running on reaper, i don't remember ever having it on Cubase but now that i'm trying to make the switch to this DAW it's being a pain and i can't figure out what it is so i don't wanna install cubase again to see if it happens there too so the thing is, whenever i hit a key (with the pc mouse), its like... *key hit*...................... BOING. (Being boing an amazing synth sound )... nothing's changed on my UX2's config lately , happens the same with all vsti's.

any ideas?

That's odd. I wouldn't blame Reaper right away, since I don't think I've ever heard anyone with that issue.
Maybe a settings issue?

totally, i don't blame reaper, i know it's more on the interface side or a bad config of mine but, dunno what i should check right now :S

ok, removed a couple master fx's and it's 90% gone... maybe now somebody knows what this is about?

It must be the latency added by any VST's you are running in the path of the synth you are trying to control.

If you were using anything like a brickwall limiter on your master bus then such plugins usually have a look-ahead function. Which inevitably adds latency to the audio output. If you need 0 latency then it's best to keep the master bus clear.
