LAYERING GUITARS>>>Phase issues!

hey guys!
i recorded two rythmguitars (left-right) and started now to reamp them.
i tried out some different stuff like ampsims and real miked amps.my goal was to layer the guitartracks with different amptypes,e.g. orange for the picking, mesa for the wall.now i have 5 different amps per side,my problem is now that i have phasing going on.
like i said,i used ampsims and real amps,so i have many different latency levels.my question:does it make sense just to allign all guitarlayers to one wave (like the first transient)?!?
thanks and bye,pat

This might sound obvious, but the waves have to be aligned AND in phase. Upper image BAD, lower GOOD!!!

Yeah, on this note, people make such a big deal of phasing being a problem when you use multiple mics on a cab, but can't that very easily be remedied by shifting the track to line 'em up? I guess the only problem there is that you can't tell what it sounds like until you record a test...

I got same problems with multitracking. You're all saying about alligning. How should I do that?(I'm using Cubase SX). When i put my multitrack on the frequency analyzer it clearly shows that it's going out of phase. It's not only analyzer, I can also hear that, so instead of getting ,,meat,, I am getting something similiar to if I recorded just 1 track and copy it to the others and moved few ms in the timeline of the multitrack. Of course i am multitracking it the good way, 1 track = 1 performance. I am most often doing double track panned 100/100 or quad track 100/80/80/100. How should I allign/fix phasing?

I still have issues even when I sample-align two different amps putting out the same performance. It really seems to be a case of needing to get it right from the start. No matter how aligned it looks in ProTools, I still get that mid-phaser sound from the guitars when summing them.

exactly the same here!

Don't reamp the same perfomance more than once on one side!
Re-take it tightly

+1 different amps are going to make different changes to the original sound wave of the guitar, so even though there's no difference in time of arrival, the two sounds are not the same so never can be completely in phase.
