Sorry dudes, I know this might have been covered, I tried searching to no avail and I dont know how to search "the other" way someone mentioned sometime ago.

So it's a pretty straight forward question, best CDs to burn masters that are least prone to give errors in your experience

Cheers

if it's a master you HAVE to do this:

Burn it in the slowest possible speed (8x)
Make sure your disk doesnt have a fingerprint or anything on the burning side, it should look crystal clear.

If you don't need super professional Sony's CD-R are your safest bet. They play well everywhere.

Taiyo Yuden are top notch.

I know, I'm not talking about a "master" for playing back, but for sending to the replication plant. That's why I was asking for something that would be less prominent to give errors :)

I agree with the Taiyo Yuden/JVC comments, I've lots of big time projects get sent to mastering and received from mastering this brand. All new packaging should say JVC on it. I just bought a spindle from one of the local Nashville dealers, and they said it is the exact same media.

If you are getting a lot of errors, one thing to look at is the drive. I was getting tons of C1 and a couple C2 errors when trying to burn a master a couple weeks back. I ended buying a new burner and that solved the problem. The burner and media both can cause problems when you are trying to burn a master. I bought the Sony Opti-Arc AD-7260S-0B. It's a cheap drive that seems to work well burning at all speeds. I then checked the error rate of my masters burned at various speeds with Opti Drive Control (Windows only) and my C1 avg was under 1/sec and 0 C2 errors.

Good luck!

UK Guys, where do you buy your Audio CD-Rs from? I cant seem to find anywhere, I can find Taiyo Yudens but normal CD-Rs

Will this do for example? [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/TAIYO-YUDEN-WHITE-INKJET-PRINTABLE/dp/B001UAT9LK/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1287158547&sr=1-4"]http://www.amazon.co.uk/TAIYO-YUDEN-WHITE-INKJET-PRINTABLE/dp/B001UAT9LK/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1287158547&sr=1-4[/ame]

What programme are you guys using to burn off your masters? I had a problem with a master I'd sent out recently, all seemed fine on my pc and it played fine in the cd players I'd tested it on but we'd problems when we got it back from the pressing place, it doesn't work in some CD players (including some of the ones that I tested it on) and he said it was the master CD we'd sent up.
Any handy programmes for burning and/or checking the compatiblity if your cds?

This has probably more to do with the burner and the particular media you're using than the burning software.

Personally, I use Peak 6, and my iMac Superdrive+Peak+Sony Audio CD combination hasn't given me any trouble with duplication plants so far.
