let's start wrapping up 2007 - present your absolute must-buys

Anyone who likes Lunar Aurora and Darkspace-ish ambient/metal should give Trist a try. It's quite a ride. Also, the resemblance to Lunar Aurora is hardly a coincidence, since LA front man Aran is behind all the music.

I've thought about getting some Trist since I really enjoy LA. I didnt enjoy Darkspace too much.

Desiderii Marginis - Seven Sorrows (calm and beautiful, not your archetypal dark ambient though it just screams Cold Meat from the first second)
Krynitza - Hail to the Sun (NS atmo/folk - no bad surprise)
Trist - hin fort (the 'regular' CD is good, butquite unimpressive horror ambient, while the 60'00 song, basically the same movement from A to Z, is just an endless, hypnotic drill, Darkspace style - like it)

Fuck, why haven't I heard those first two yet? And that Trist sounds interesting, I should check that out.

Well think of the awesome Hier und Jetzt song from Elixir of Sorrow, but more powerful and one hour long, then you're getting close to Trist.

Quite to the point Swedish comrade. It also calls to mind their awesome 20'00+ epic "A Haudiga Fluag" on the split-vinyl with Paysage d'Hiver (which I badly need to d/l again)

Wtf, I had forgotten all about that song! It is indeed excellent, and I think I will listen to it straight away while immersing myself in german grammar.

Slough Feg – Hardworlder
Pig Destroyer – Phantom Limb
Stinking Lizaveta – Scream of The Iron Iconoclast
Reverend Bizarre – So Long Suckers!
High on Fire – Death Is This Communion
Pale Divine – Cemetery Earth
Centurions Ghost – The Great Work
Josiah – No Time
Mammatus – The Coast Explodes
Warchetype – Goat Goddess Supremacy

in no order, my 10 fav metal full-lengths thus far.

Oh, and the best demo is BY FAR Weird Light. Some of the absolute best fucking Doom Metal I have heard in a longass time. These dudes, Apostle of Solitude, and hopefully The Lamp of Thoth are destined for greatness.

Aye. I also didn't now they had a full-length out before Frostnacht, "Gratr". Released in 500 copies as a demo, and hard to find I guess.
