let's start wrapping up 2007 - present your absolute must-buys

Bonerific

Lunar Aurora - Andacht (their best so far, just the perfect epitaph for a great band)
Elend - A World in Their Screams (their first release worthy of being labeled 'classical music' - deep and chilling, knowledge of French helps a lot though)
Neurosis - Given to the Rising (no comment)
Glorior Belli - Manifesting the Raging Beast (as the title implies... I just like when my black metal really makes me feel like kicking a pregnant woman in the belly)
Mammatus - The Coast Explodes (what Dev said)
Minsk - The Ritual Fires of Abandonment (needs several spins to unfold, but once in the right mood a deeply involving release)
Desiderii Marginis - Seven Sorrows (calm and beautiful, not your archetypal dark ambient though it just screams Cold Meat from the first second)
Dälek - Abandoned Language (a clear improvement from the previous one)
Grayceon - Grayceon (funny but solid)
Krohm - The Haunting Presence (this is what good mid-tempo black metal sounds like)

Other noteworthy shit

Verdunkeln - Einblick in den Qualenfall (traces of Lunar Aurora/Burzum/The Ruins of Beverast - quite very good)
Krynitza - Hail to the Sun (NS atmo/folk - no bad surprise)
Trist - hin fort (the 'regular' CD is good, butquite unimpressive horror ambient, while the 60'00 song, basically the same movement from A to Z, is just an endless, hypnotic drill, Darkspace style - like it)
Wold - Screech Owl (think Sort Vokter if recorded under 20 fathoms of moose shit and then processed through an industrial excavator - beautiful!)
Eluvium - Copia (as far as totally uneventful music goes, this is not bad at all)
Mgła - Mdłości + Further Down the Nest (wow!!! I want an album's length of this - razorsharp leads, killer songwriting)

Un-bonerizing

Deathspell Omega - Fas (overambitious and just not enjoyable at all)
Alcest - Souvenirs d'un autre Monde (gay)

Trist - hin fort (the 'regular' CD is good, butquite unimpressive horror ambient, while the 60'00 song, basically the same movement from A to Z, is just an endless, hypnotic drill, Darkspace style - like it)

Agreed. After hearing the stellar first disc, I was really let down by the somewhat silly "horror ambient" on the second one. But that mammoth track on the first disc makes me forgot all about that.

Anyone who likes Lunar Aurora and Darkspace-ish ambient/metal should give Trist a try. It's quite a ride. Also, the resemblance to Lunar Aurora is hardly a coincidence, since LA front man Aran is behind all the music.

Mark, did you ever get my email adding the following personal discoveries to the "must buy of 2007" list? (in addition to many already mentioned here):

Malsain - The Disease (atmospheric Black 'n Roll with incredible female growls from Norway).

Nae'blis - Sketches of Reality (progressive, dramatic grand and sweeping black metal from Sweden - will likely make my top 5 this year if I do a list).
