let's start wrapping up 2007 - present your absolute must-buys

Fuck me running... Just listened to the Angantyr disc. Hooked on the first listen, and reeling me in on the second.

Really solid album from the first go.

Gonna check out Warchetype next. Liked the track I heard on myspace.
 
This year has not been overly impressive, with a couple of exceptions. Here's my strange perspective:

Brilliance:
Wolves in the throne room- two hunters (easily number one, the only possible band in a position to dethrone would be Primordial)
Danzig - The Lost Tracks of Danzig
Doomsword - My Name Will Live On
Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb
necros christos - triune impurity rites
lunar aurora - andacht

Merely Excellent:
Slough Feg - Hardworlder
Malignancy - Inhuman Grotesqueries
Rotting Christ - Theogonia


Decent enough, but less impressive over the long run:
Raventale - On a crystal swing
Nox- Ixaxaar
Type O Negative - Dead Again
Angantyr - Haevn
Obituary - The Xcutioner's Return

Suspected rulage, but as of yet unconfirmed:
Drudkh - Estrangement
Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death
Reverend Bizarre - II: So Long Suckers!
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
High On Fire - Death Is This Communion

Not impressed:
Watain - Sworn to the dark
Nile - Ithyphallic

Most Anticipated before the end of the year:
Primordial - To the Nameless Dead
 
I'll just come with this one which absolutely blew my mind in the mid of sternly-disapppointing and predictable releases. Great fresh and magic sound, The Coast Explodes is on of my favs of the year easily (with Dälek).

That's all I was trying to say. It's filled to the brim with hooks, and extreme music needs hooks once in a while. Track #2 is just extraordinary - there's an entire passage that brings out the goosebumps.

The Coast Explodes is fucking EXCELLENT. I have been spinning it for a while now. NAD/Demilich/MFJ/etc should check these dudes out.

It has GREAT potential to be in my top 10 year-end.
 
I was trying to describe what I feel about it in the other thread but words failed me. And I've only heard it from start to finish one time so far. I definitely think it's your best song. And one of the best songs ever, (yes I can say that already). Epic as fuck. I am a sucker for these long songs that take you on a musical journey. Probably your best production and playing so far.
