life doesnt get any better

well i would've given it a 45/100

the thing is that the people who have listened to you demo and said that it kicks ass all know you and don't take you seriously so they're surprised that you can churn out any crappy music of any quality so when you add in the shock factor, that adds about 50 points.
But if the demo was supposed to be a proper, slick demo than it's pretty shit. You should just be happy that the reviewer was so generous.

For gods sake, most of you riffs are immature and sound just plain stupid (and not in a wacky, creative type way). And don't get me started on the solos....dear god that is some of the worst lead work i've heard.

Your main problem is that you think that you are a good guitarist and a good musician, but you aren't well at least not yet anyway.
For a 19 yr old college student that has been playing guitar for 3 years for fun, your demo is actually good. I'm sure if you compared it to other 19yr old college students that have been playing guitar for 3 years than you demo would come out on top.

You can't expect to be good at something after only doing it for a while. What makes you so special that you don't have to work your ass off for a long time like other musicians out there? You have to persist and maybe in a couple years when you are good at guitar you'll produce a good demo.

*searches for round of applause emoticon*

*can't find it*

:bah:

anyway, well said. :)

Stygian, you still need to learn that criticism, even really bad, is a good thing. Hopefully from this you can move on to OWNING music is general with even more power in the future.

I agree 100%.

Listen man, if you're going to throw down your gloves and quit and cry and bitch because things aren't going exactly as you planned, and if you're not going to even TRY to take criticism constructively, then save yourself some grief and sell your guitar. Because you're not going to get anywhere.

Not saying that you've done those things regarding your demo yet... just a heads up.

Yeah..

Styg...Look at Bumblefoot..the guy has only been playing for 5 years. He practices his ass off, and he OWNS on guitar. He does stuff I can't do after 10 years playing. It's all about practicing.

AS for the demo, you definitely sound like you want to do well. Your riffs are immature, however, but that doiesn't neccesarily mean they WON'T be good at some point. Learn some theory. Learn how to structure songs, maybe take some composition courses. Also practice "gravitation", or where things NEED to go next in a song to make a song work. For example, even in bands I like I hear too often a drop off where a swell of emotion would have MADE the song, or a descending note run would have added that much more to a song. Listen for those things in other music, and it will invariably help your own.

AS for the demo review, for a hobby guitarist with admittedly not much motivation to do much outside of jam in your bedroom, 60 is awesome! Maybe in an another 3 years you'll produce something worth 80, and then be able to gain band members. As previously said, the fact that your bedroom demo even got reviewed is a feat.

Anyways, don't get all upset and proud over the fact it wasn't what you thought. Everyones own music is the best in the world (I gurantee you that Sacred Steel thinks they are good, even if no one else does) to them. That you get all pissed at the fact that your hobby demo didn't do as well as you thought it should is an insulkt to those of us who have been working our asses off to get somewhere with music.

I think your music fits well with your personal keyword. Childish. I'm sorry, but at this moment i can't squeeze out even a tiny iddy-biddy drip of sympathy for you.

Do you make music for being praised or for yourself?Don't bother with reviewers...honest music is always rewarding.

Anyway, I understand your deception, but keep it mind that reviewer share a great deal of subjectivity. Every "good" review will confirms you this.

Nah, he just realizes that he's a fucking idiot and has nothing to say to all of our comments.

Knowing Stygian, I seriously doubt that. He'd argue that black was white.
