I just got one and have only used it for acoustic guitar and vocals through a AT4040 out via spdif into my daw...

I would imagine it sounds great on just about everything except high gain guitar...

buy one, if you dont like it, return it.

it's a great tool for the price...the guitar tones are decent, i really dig the bass sounds, and the mic pre models aren't bad at all

I bought a Toneport a few weeks ago and I love it. Make sure you get the Metal pack addon if you want to record anything high gain though. The amps in there are a cut above the regular ones when it comes to metal (big suprise...). Also, don't expect flawless simulations or that you can tweak the models as you would tweak their real-life counterparts. Just turn the knobs until it sounds good.

Toneport = great purchase

you can find both guitar patches, the bass patch, and the kick/snare samples i used right there...the guitars sound pretty lame untill you put both of them in a mix together, then they're decent

nope, just one track of each...the overdriven bass tone just kinda rounds things out nicely
