list awesome (or hilarious) covers here!!!!

josh, the metal ones were inevitable given the board's surroundings. i will think more on non-metallic ones.

PS: that vondur cover rules even outside the realm of metal. think of it as an exercise in opposites.

PPS: that garage inc. makes me sick. mostly because i once saw a guitar tab book for it. making money off of a tab book filled with songs you haven't written is disgusting. and the thin lizzy cover sucked. period.

The Kiss My Ass KISS tribute album.

Awesome: "She" covered by Anthrax
"Deuce" covered by Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder
"Detroit Rock City" covered by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Hilarious: That random German band who covered "Unholy" sung in all German but replaced the guitar solo with an impromptu 30 second version of "I Was Made For Lovin You"

tee hee! eh, it may not have been that bad, but i just have a horrible taste in my mouth for that entire album from seeing that tab book. i didn't like the song when i heard it tho. the original is awesome and this ver does nothing for me.

The entire "Graveyard Classics" album by Six Feet Under. It is, by far, the most hilarious parody of songs ever recorded. Oh wait, they were trying to come off as serious. :Smug: Don't get me wrong, there were a few covers that were good, but the rest of it was just fucking hilarious!

Awesome:

My Dying Bride - Roads (Portishead)
My Dying Bride - Some Velvet Morning (Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra)
Agalloch - Kneel to the Cross (Sol Invictus)
Evergreen Terrace - Enjoy the Silence (Depeche Mode)
Evergreen Terrace - Sunday, Bloody Sunday (U2)
Pig - Disobediance (KMFDM)
Faith No More - I Started a Joke (The Beegees)

hilarious:
Trail of Tears - Caffeine (Faith No More)
Treponem Pal - Funky Town (Lips Inc)
KFMDM - Boots (Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra)
Dominion - Shout (Tears for Fears)

Dude Garage Inc. is a fucking good album. I agree with you about the tab thing but I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of the album. I pity those poor bastards, to have been the coolest and now the least cool.

Also I was going for irony with the no metal ocvers thing but whatever.

Ugly Kid Joe: NIB

oh, yeah, also,

Operation Ivy - Boots (Nancy Sinatra)

Spring Heeled Jack - Electric (Big Mistake)

I know you probably all loathe ska, so pretend that the SHJ cover is "hilarious" if you must.
