Listening to the new Taake right now.

Ive been pretty fucking sick of black metal from norway for quite awhile now.... this new taake is their best release, and probably the best release this past year ive heard. I would of definatley signed it :)

I don't think Hoest will ever make something better than Nattestid, but I don't care really because Taake is making very high quality albums still!

No , it still rules and btw Hoest invented new 'BOINGS' in Doedskavad , one among others : a triple 'HU' like... ' HU HU HU ' well... worth the album alone I tell you
Hoest rules :loco:

1) Nattestid Ser Porten Vid
2) ...Doedskvad
3) Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik

could any suparkewl Norwegian speaking person tell me what these mean? (I'm looking in Henrik's direction...)

This also I would have never expected ... :hypno:

I have no favs of course .. I just can't make a decision

Let me try, I suck at norweigan but I'm bored ;)
1) (Urgh, this is hard) The nightly hours beholds the gate (swung) wide open? Or am I completely lost here Henrik?

2) Tune/song(s) of Death (where kvad means more than just a tune, it's a noun form of the word kväda, a verb meaning ~a reciting of poetry in a solemn manner. It's an archaic word used mostly in the Eddas, and that's what Hoest is refering to I guess)

3) The Heaven Cries over Bjoergvin I've a feeling this either completey correct or horribly wrong

Im not sure why so many people didnt like Bjoergvin too much. Sure its progressive, but its not it was a shitty 4th wave melodic/symphonic blackened death album or anything.

You're both pretty much correct, Erik and spaffe.

Nattestid Ser Porten Vid can have two meanings, I think, and I reckon both Erik's and spaffe's translations are good. It's quite a poetic title, where "Nattestid" means "The time of night", more or less. "Ser" is "looks" or "beholds". "Porten vid" = The wide open gate, the wide gate.

Hordaland Doedskvad - Spaffe's explanation of kvad is pretty much spot on. Hordaland is the region/county (Norway are divided into 19 different regions/"fylker") in which Bjoergvin (today called Bergen) lies. Bjoergvin is Høst's hometown.

Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik - Himmerik is a difficult word to translate. Himmel is the standard Norwegian word for heaven, but himmerik is a more poetic and romantic version. "Rik" comes from the word "rike", which is closely related to realm or kingdom. My translation would be something like "The Heaven Cries Over Bjoergvin" or "The Heavenrealms/spheres Cry Above Bjoergvin".

Fuck, I forget if I ordered this album or not. Gotta check through my emails sometime. There be too much shit to order.

Anyone know how The End sends orders that have both CD and Vinyl in em?
