But on the subject:

one thing people might not have taken in to consideration is how does the bass player sound? Is he very loud and have a really blurry and mid heavy tone or use a distortion? If he is overpowering the other guitarist, maybe you need to do something about it. Also what cabinets are you using?

Also like others said, use a tubescreame, as it removes a lot of the woofy low end and brings up the mids from the guitar tone. dial in the mids about double and bass about half from what you would use on record. So if your recording setup would be bass at 1:00 and mids at 10:00, put them bass to 9:00 and mids to 2:00

And an amp complimenting 6505 live? Depends what style of music you are playing and what is other players role in the band. Lead? Rhythm? Both? You usually can't go wrong with the 3-4 channel big names amps like Marshall, Mesa and Peavey, but since there is million other amp manufacturers, I bet there are plenty of good amps that sound good with the 6505.
 
I'm using a Peavy 6505 cab. I find that it is quite dark sounding that's why I try boost the treble.
