I've seen a few people talk about this around here, and I've been looking into it but I can't figure out if it does exactly what I want it to do.

I don't want to press any footswitches. EVER. I hate it. Can I somehow plug like a midi channel from cubase into this thing and just have it automate all my changes?

For example, say I'm playing along, playing along.. and BAM I have to change to clean. This means I have to change my amp to it's clean channel and then turn the tubescreamer off. AKA major groove killer. I want it to go more like playing along, playing along, and BAM I don't have to do anything but keep playing because my amp and pedal have already switched as necessary and then will switch back again when it needs to.

(ps the drummer would already be playing to a click with backing tracks so my question is only if this piece of gear will do what I want it to, and if not, what piece of gear will, if any)

If you use it with a GCP, then yes, but I think at that price point you could probably find something else out there that is cheaper.

argh. that's what I was afraid of.

that's whack. why would they make you buy a pedal board just to ... not use a pedal board. lol.

any suggestions?

Axxes Electronics made a product that could do what you are asking, but I think they bit the dust not too long ago.

I'm sure there is something else out there...

so frustrating. how fucking complicated can these things be to build? I don't feel like I should have to spend more than like $300 for this.

If you now how to program(burn) a micro-controller, know how to write the code, know how make a pcb, know how to wire up all the relays, then it wouldn't be too hard :)

I've been rigging up a midi switching circuit for a future amp design, and let me tell you, it's not as easy as one may think it is.

this maybe? it says "any midi foot controller"

why can't my "midi foot controller" be a track in cubase?

fair enough, haha.

Yep, that would work.

If I were you I'd still have a footcontroller with you as backup though, I wouldn't trust a laptop and cubase to always work properly 100% of the time.

good point. I'll probably get one eventually.

As for the midi, I guess I would have to play around with it for a while till I figure out which notes trigger which channels and stuff?

thanks man!!

It's pretty straight forward. The manual will have all that info in it. My Herbert/GCX/GCP was a breeze to program.
