Ok, I'm sure some of you have some good stuff that helps keep you ahead of your game, like...

Slipknot use un-lubricated condoms on thier wireless transmitters to keep water/whatever out of them.

Paul Gilbert recently gave a tip that if you get shocked by the mic when you are playing guitar, he reccomends plugging a guitar cable on an unused jack on your amp (he said like an fx send or whatever) and plug the other end into an unused insert on the monitor board so the current has somewhere else to go.

An obvious one, Dime reccomended Pedialyte when you are hungover, instead of Gatorade.

....anyone got some goodies to save thier day that they wanna share?

I know not all of this is pertinent to everyone...Im bored and just wondering, so....

Angela Gossow puts black paint under her eyes, like a football player, to keep the glare from the stage lighting from bothering her eyes.

Dime/Rex had thier tech carve x's on thier picks for grip.

Petrucci's tech demonstrated in a vid that for amps like some Mesa's that use a switching system to control voicing (Deep, Modern. Half) to use Planet Waves 'circuit breaker' plug ends...the ones you get to install on your own cable...by themselves (no cable). The switch on them can be used to turn those features on/off without running a cable to the jack. This would be used assuming you want this on all the time, or you just don't want to program your amp to turn that on or whatever.

Well, I don't know who's idea it first was and I'm sure there are many variations but if you're a drummer and sweat from your palms try covering the part were you grip with Tennis Racket tape. Igor Cavalera did this often in the late era (as can be seen during the Roorback period).

I don't particularly sweat but I had problems keeping focus on my grip so in my earlier years I tried electric tape which sucked. Tennis Racket tape is much better, however if it is too thick it may unbalance the stick and make it uncomfortable so be careful on trying to balance the same amount on each whilst being comfortable.

Of course, now there are gloves that have the same function and they will serve you for a long time, however in my country I wasn't able to find a good pair of good grip drumming gloves.

Just my 2c.

Plus those are really lame looking

I once read where Buzz Osbourne from the melvins Poked his guitar cable through aluminum foil and then to the amps in jack to prevent picking up radio signals through his amp....

couldn't tell you if it works or not

I put a small square of skateboard grip tape on one side of all my picks and hold that side with my thumb. Never drop a pick ever again this way and it holds up fantastic. Any skateboard shop will give you as many little scraps as you could possibly ask for for free as well!

Oh yeah and this is my favourite bit of pre-preparation which will stand you in great stead for playing live, rehearsing and recording.

LEARN TO PLAY YOUR SONGS FIRST!

Never goes out of fashion. Shame so many people haven't discovered it.

Here's one for any vocalists out there: At some shows, I've seen singers run behind the amps and suck on a piece of lemon for a few seconds. I'm not sure what the hell this does, but it must help the voice somehow.
