Somewhere...
Forgive me. I have never been to a primarily seated metal show before. Especially for a prog show.

So if you went to the chronological shows or have seen Opeth at a fully seated venue, I'd like to know - do people actually sit?

Whenever I actually get stuck with seats, I'm still standing and it's all :kickass::kickass:

Would it be considered a douche bag'y thing to stand for Opeth when they are out with DT? Just curious.

Even if it's a yes, I seriously don't see myself being in that seat for very long!

I've never been to a seated opeth show, but I also always stand whenever I get a seat at any metal show (and so does everyone else). I don't think it would be a douch baggy thing at all, it almost feels like it's a respect thing, plus you can't headbang while sitting down. :kickass:

Gigantour in 2006 was seated pretty much at PNC Bank Arts Center.

so most people just stood and headbanged.

best quote ever from Mikael that night -> "If you don't like this song, then just shut the fuck up." as they were about to play "Windowpane.

just because their are seats, you dont HAVE to sit. think of it as reserved standing room.

most people stand, atleast for the main acts at the concerts iv been to where there have been seats.

I saw the Chronology Opeth show in LA a couple of years ago and while the show was sold out (2300 people) and the band was excellent, the crowd's energy was lacking.

Especially compared to the standing room only House of Blues show they did in LA just a few months earlier where the energy of the room was totally electric.

i went to the Chronology show in Chicago. there were seats, but nobody really sat. kinda disappointing. i wish that sometimes people could just sit and let the music soak in rather than moshing/etc. (although at the opeth shows ive been to, the moshing has been minimal)

I saw DT this past summer in a seated (mostly) venue, and not a single person sat. I would expect more of the same during PN2008 although it could certainly vary by venue. I'm going to the Boston show which is being held at an old music hall which is over 150 years old so I don't expect thing to get too crazy

Pretty much what he said, I was at both gigs. A lot of people sat, then stood, then sat and such. I was front row Loge so I could still sit and lean out over the railing and headbang, which was nice.

I was at that same exact show. I had managed to sneak into the front few rows somehow when Opeth came on, but I was so trashed I dont remember any of the show. I think I might have been in some kind of dream like trance. The only thing I remember was mike saying "By the way we are Opeth from Stockholm Sweden" but I was just so comfortable. The next thing I know im standing up 20 rows back and I had somehow met up with my friends and were sparking a blunt just as Megadeth was opening up with Blackmail the Universe. I just kept asking myself. WTF? What happened to Opeth? Whats songs did they play? I was really sad.
