Right its late and i was browsing sevenstring and came across this song with an absolutely awful,generic riff recorded with an axe-fx. WHAT IS THE POINT IN HAVING AN AXE-FX IF ALL YOU'RE GOING TO DO ARE SUB-PAR OCTAVE RIFFS AND GALLOPS!?!

Long story... started with me refuting posts by mods that said Krank amps sucked and that reamping added compression to guitar tones, ended with me just talking a bunch of shit to a balding midget with a Napoleon complex worse than the 2009 Detroit Lions (aka Noodles).

Yes. There is tons of wrong mixing advice... but it's their own damned fault for accepting it.

It's hilarious how few (actually, none) of the people who argued with you over tone and technical issues actually had a decent recording to their name... they should be embarrased that a high school kid had better sounds out of his bedroom than they got out of a 'professional' studio, but their method of argument seems to be 'repeat until desperation kicks in and better things begin to occupy the opponent's time' and there's just not much point in touching their recording section.

the best thing i ever saw was on HCAF
some guy posting up some "tone tests"
had like mega expensive tube mic preamps, expensive converters, boutique amps, the works
i clicked on the clip, listened to a second of it and burst out laughing
its one of the worst tones ive ever heard, sounded like it was miced with the mic pointing at the very VERY edge of the speaker like 10 inches back. a muddy, flubby, muffled, scooped mess of a tone and he was like "IM STILL HAVING SOME TROUBLE GETTING THE CLARITY I WANT" and i think it was like a splawn nitro through a mesa 4x12 or something. and if i remember rightly there was a clip of SM57, e609 and a clip of them blended, but dont take my word for it.
and this guy runs like a "pro" studio and i was just thinking "fuck me, how is this guy even getting any work?" haha
its the single funniest thing ive ever seen on any forum and people were like "DOOD HOW DID U GET THIS TONE OMG ITS SO GOOD"

I used to post there a lot, but hardly anyone listened to my recordings because it wasn't "Superior 2.0 + Axe-FX, Bulb clone...help me with my djent!".

All the people over there give the wrong ENGLs far too much love too. I gave up trying to argue against them.

ugh, that forum is one of the worst when it comes to close-minded, inexperienced misinformation.

Jeff had a good round with the morons there, I think I have that bookmarked for laughs occasionally. I have had a few rounds myself, mostly via PM of mods trying to tell me I can't come in "telling everyone they are wrong, even if they are" As I said before, that place is only good for learning what new guitars are coming out (7 and 8 strings) and also for their classifieds section. You can score some cool shit on there.
