I want to get the best pre-amp for 1000 dollars (can go up to 1200 if its really worthit). I want something that has vintage warmth to it (neve like), that I can drive a little if I want to but also get really clean reuslts for female vocals for instance. I just want to best pre amp for that price range.

the dual is the way to go for 1000Is the dual 72 the same pre amp circuit just without eq ?

The cheapest Neve clone comes from Golden Age Music. Made in China of course. There's a huge thread on Gearslutz about it.
