Alright, I'm starting off for an information gathering mission for next summer 
I'm going to buy a good preamp in the 0 - 600 euros' range (0 - 800 USD). I've ran into the API 512c being mentioned in many places, but is it the best guitar pre in the price range? Any other ones I should check out/get instead? I will most likely be using either an MD421, SM57, or Audix i5 with it.
