Seriously, the jack daniels works, just dont drink to much of it or youll start mumbling words on stage and fall onto someone in the crowd, impaling them with your guitar.

you can only wear a kilt if you're scottish. if YOU wore a kilt it would just be another drunk irishman in a dress. ya damn crossdressing alcoholic!

Well -- that's a bunch of useless crap. Alcohol dries out your throat and if you want to improve your breath control exercise is the way, but running is the WRONG MUSCLE GROUP. Go get a vocal teacher. Since you're not planning on actually singing opera, it prolly doesn't matter how good or bad they are -- just get the breathing exercises and "rules" out of them. They're pretty simple, really and the exercise the right muscle group. They can also show you some surprising stuff on opening your throat up -- more effects (of course, closing your throat trashes your voice and limits your "lifespan" as a vocalist).

Also, if they sell it in your area, there is a brand of tea called "Traditional Medicinals" that sells a tea called "throat coat". It's quite nice, but if you can't find it, look for something with slippery elm in it and remember it's a root, so steep it for a good 5 minutes. Not too hot, not a bunch of sugar, not a bunch of lemon -- just drink the tea. It helps

Well if you remember what I said I didnt agree with drinking alcohol.
As for exercise yes it helps, but running isnt a muscle group its an activity (duh). It lowers the heart rate and improves all of the respiratory system, more heart power, more lung power.
I think you've also mistaken this for a thread about clean singing. I dont know many vocal teachers who teach extreme vocals do you?

someone, i think thedreamingmind, mentioned something about milk soothing the throat, and i thought about that (i have a wicked throat ache), so i drunk a lot of milk, and it actually helped... wierd

i agree with junkie... speaking of screaming, has anyone else noticed that nu-metal vocalists all scream the same way? kind of like hard/metalcore bands.... its annoying
