Questions about Growling/Screaming and Vocal Lessons..

While looking over most of the vocal help threads in this forum, a majority of the people that posted advice on growling and screaming told the thread starter to take up vocal lessons. I am currently looking into taking vocal lessons and just wondering as far as what should I be looking for in a teacher and what style of vocals I should learn to help improve and learn techniques in growling and screaming..because I highly doubt I would be able to find lessons pertaining to metal.

Taking voice lessons will teach you correct posture, breathing technique, etc. that will help with growling. However, growling and singing are pretty opposite, as in......if you want to sing, growling is going to hurt that. If you just want to growl, just go for a qualified voice teacher to teach you technique. There's no such thing as "metal" voice lessons. The same basic technique pertains to singing well, no matter what you're singing.
