Savatage is here. Kamelot and Jon Oliva's Pain are driving this morning. Tad Morose, Edguy, and Into Eternity are already in North America so delays are no big deal. I have received no reports of flight cancellations from any of the Euro bands as all of them have already departed.

Plus, the new projections look even better. We are to get heavy rains and wind from 30-50mph. I have been informed that the airport stops flights once the wind hits 45 mph. Midtown Atlanta's power lines are UNDERGROUND. Earthlink reports that they have never had a major power outage secondary to any storm in the history of the venue.

I'm off to nurse a hangover.

Looks I'll be in a few hours later - my planes was grounded due to a mechanical problem! GAH!

I'm flying out at 3:30 and arriving at 5.

See you all at the pre-party!!

alabama isnt' looking so good. but hopefully all i'll miss is the preparty. we're waiting for Fri. morning to decide if we can make it to atlanta safely or not. the worst seems to be goin on today though, so that's pretty good.

Even way out here in Albuquerque, there are scheduling ripple effects. My 11:15am flight is delayed until 2pm. (At least we get free wireless 'Net here in the airport. :-) Since I'm flying east two timezones, that means I'm not leaving 'til 4pm edt. Dammit, I'm gonna be late to the preparty. All I ask -- beg -- is that y'all don't drink ALL the beer. Leave some for me!!

The lesson for next year: fly on Wednesday.

Damn Ivan! My flight was cancelled from Hartford because of the weather in Atlanta. The irony being that it seems like every time I fly out of Hartford it is raining there, but today it is sunny and beautiful! I could have stuck around the airport for hours hoping to get on another flight, but instead I rescheduled for tomorrow AM.

If you are in Atlanta now, what's the forecast for approx. Noon tomorrow?

This will be my 3rd PP, so somehow I'll get there!!!

We spent 7 hours on a plane only to end up back where we started, what a fun day. And it looks like the earliest we'll be able to get there is around 4:30 on Fri, and even that's not definite.

Someone told me the show was cancelled due to Ivan. Is this true???????

Who told you this? 'Someone' who isn't attending? And why would it be cancelled when Ivan no longer exists as a Hurricane? Did you read the forecast above? Only about a 60% chance of rain and isolated t'storms this evening. Even better weather tomorrow. I'm only about 30 miles due west of Atlanta and there's a fine mist of rain going on now and it's breezy, probably no more than 15 mph winds.

Well,we got in about an hour ago, Ivan left us unscathed. I wish eveyone else the best of luck in getting here, and invite everyone to room 219 at the Fairfield to party!

...and as a look back from a weather perspective, it turned out that Ivan made the pre-party a soggy affair on Thursday...but the weather cleared off by Friday evening (whew, people didn't have to stand in line for hours in the rain) and Saturday and Sunday were Atlanta's reward for hosting Ivan on Thursday. Brilliant sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, a bit cool for Atlanta and that was fine with me.

Don't want to minimize the damage and trouble caused by Ivan, though. The venue never lost power but just north of the area, power was lost along Peachtree Street during the height of the wind and rain, around 3pm on Thursday. Closer to home, the front entrance to the Fairfield Inn started flooding and they had to place sandbags around the outer doors to reduce the seepage.

Best t-shirt on Thursday, maybe even the best of the fest: the guy who wore the "Ivan Sucks" tee. It looked handmade. That ruled. :)

I was lucky enough to only be delayed an hour and a half on friday morning as the crew who came in from atlanta the night before needed their minimum sleep but I made it to progpower in time so that was awesome!! Hurricanes don't stop tattooedsean:cool:
