Lost their way / Gem in the rough

I've also recently come to appreciate The Real Thing, I never really enjoyed that one other than a song or two. Too many keyboards for me back then I suppose. My FNM journey started when Angel Dust came out, 100.3 Pirate Radio would play Midlife Crisis every morning on my way to school and I started to really dig it. Then my grammaw bought me the album for my 14th birthday (1993), huge CD box and all.

Man, the fucking "long box" was so lame. I remember getting Slayer's A Decade of Aggression album and the goddamn booklet was long box sized. What in the fuck am I supposed to do with that??

Satyricon and Dimmu don't have any lost gems. They are two of the more popular black metal bands.

Another one is Pazuzu's "And All was Silent". Man, that is a haunting album, perfect for scary video game playing.

Oh, I took that to mean a great album "lost its way" ,meaning it was overlooked. I guess i should read the first post, huh...

Whoa, I didn't know some albums came with long box books! I think the first 10 or so CDs I bought were in long boxes, shortly after that they all disappeared. I liked them for the large artwork, but it was a pretty ridiculous anti-theft device, if that's what they were for.

Most of them had normal booklets, but I guess there were a few exceptions.

I think some of the long box was about security and some about retail needs. Stores couldn’t very well display cds behind glass cases like cassettes, because the spine labels are kinda small and hard to read unless you can get close. So you really want to display them w/ the cover facing the customer. I guess they didn’t want to leave such a small package in the open, and it took seven years or so before the plastic security case became universal.

Weakling - Dead as Dreams

fucking awesome album. They only made that one and then they split up. A fucking shame. I think I'll pull that one out tonight.
