I like the old SW movies, but to me, when you add in the other 2 so far, I have to give LoTR the nod.

Now, Alien and Predator movies, I love the Alien ones. Predator ones to me are decent, but the Alien movies rock. And I liked AVP actually.

Overall Star Wars. All 3 LOTR movies were better then any of the last two Star Wars flicks though IMO. I'm hoping I won't be saying that after Episode III.

I like both but SW wins due to my age, it changed the world when I was a kid. The newer movies are just okay but I still hold out hope for this new one. The LOTR movies are great. I wish Lucas would let Peter Jackson direct a third Star Wars trilogy for 7,8 and 9. Now that would rule.

Star Wars, for the simple fact that it is a completely original creation. All Peter Jackson did was make a movie of a pre-existing work. Classic movies but non-the-less, not his.
Even with the "Phantom Menace" and Jar-Jar, the entire Star Wars story arc is Lucas's alone, and for that reason it must win.
