No matter how much BS he caught for the album with Metallica, another highly influential figure in Rock has left us! Cause of death has not been released!

He was one of the most talented musicians to ever walk the earth, defied every musical cliche and trope imaginable, and made some of the most groundbreaking stuff there is. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong and should stop listening to music.

RIP

Old Lou had nothing on your pompous nature.

(psst: having profound respect for another person is the the exact opposite of pompous)

Pssst..... Pssst..... Following that up by telling anyone who disagrees they are flat out wrong is the very definition of pompous.

Nice try.

No it's not, but shitposting on a thread about an extremely influential musician dying because you're so self important you can't accept another person's opinion is.

The "you're wrong" bit wasn't meant to be taken at literal face value. I was pre-emptively gearing up for people who were going to stink this thread up with Lulu-related comments.

Back on topic please. What Lou related record are u gonna be jamming in his honor? I've got the classics on right now.

Maybe he was an "extremely influential musician" to you. NOT TO ME! You should't speak for everyone.

Oh my god. Has this forum really become a bunch of whiny, bitchy babies? Get the fuck over yourselves. AS was making a statement of respect. For fucks sake, go outside.

I'm actually legitimately disgusted at the level of disrespect for a musician making records for almost 5 decades who just passed away. What's even more ironic is that my statement wasn't anything like "he was better than all your favorite bands" - what I said (while purposely pridefully tongue in cheek and not meant as literal) was actually sort of true. Most rock bands, and by proxy metal bands, wouldn't be around if it wasn't for Lou's material, and that he flew in the face of a lot of musical norms like putting out a drone album on a major label in the mid 90's when Greg Anderson was playing straight edge hardcore and Sunn O))) wasn't even on his mind. But of course these hypocrites would never admit any of that stuff. The fact they're so fixated on the semantics of my post are proof that they literally don't even care about my opinion in the first place. It's like a passive aggressive way of saying "who care's that he's dead, he sucked".

You don't like him? Don't post in the thread and deal with it.

This x100.

He may not have been influential to you directly, but he influenced the bands that you listen to and you could show a bit more respect for the millions of people that cared about his music and are extremely sad to see the man go.

yeah, I agree with Aeonic....while I am not a fan or one of the million now who will be sudden fans of Lou Reed since he has passed. I do respect all that he has done for music and all the people he has influenced. Anyone who says anything different really just don't get it or are that closed minded.

I don't even know who the guy is and the level of ass-hattery by people in this thread is disgusting. We aren't blabbermouth, we're better than that.

This. The whole point of this thread was to pay respects to Lou Reed and maybe introduce his music to those unaware. Instead, it has become people bitching about a successful/influential musician who has been around for a long time who has just died. If you don't know his music/don't like it, why are you posting?

...plucked his eyebrows on the way
..shaved his legs then he was a she
said hey babe, take a walk on the wild side

RIP Lou, us old fuckers got it

I say stuff like, "if you don't like (insert band) then you don't like metal", quite a bit. FatesFan has been on the recieving end of that for awhile now! I believe that's the way AeonicSlumber meant by his post...in other words, Lou Reed is an icon and should be respected.

P.S. I can't believe I'm sticking up for AeonicSlumber! :muahaha:

I have all the respect in the world for Lou Reed and what he meant to my favorite music style. Without Punk this world would shallow and negative.

Also I am saddened we won't ever hear a sequel to Lulu. But maybe now it will be re-released with all the rehearsals and alternative takes. I can only hope his estate, and Metallica, see the wi$dom in this new version.
