A thought came to my mind today, when I was listening to Katatonia and Anathema, and I'd like to ask you what you think about it.
Their music is pure genious, and the people who know me from the beginning of the list knows how much I'm sincere when saying this...
However, I don't think that so many people can actually realize how much important they are in the history of music...
I guess that the music they develloped will truly be appreciated when their bands will disappear. I mean bands or people playing melancholic music are always considered as being a bit deranged, until the day you try to listen to it carefully.
Think about Nick Drake for example, who was not really considered as being an important songwriter in the 70's. His talent was really appreciated several years after his death. His music sounds so actual even nowadays, this man was a genious, and no one realized it when he was alive.
Well I guess it's the same for Katatonia and Anathema. Ok, they have hordes of core fans in the world, but the majority of music critics has never heard of them.
When I say "recognized", I don't mean to be a best-seller, I just mean to be judged not only through their name, through their past of metal bands, but through the music they have develloped throughout the years.
Can anyone confirm what I think? (or even translate cause my english may seem a bit confused...)
