I take your question seriously, just in case you're REALLY too young to remember the time before the compact disc arrived.
LP = long player = those ancient large (12 inch diameter) black discs that people listened to (along with music cassettes) before the age of the cd.
Note: Your cd- or dvd-player or computer will not play LPs, you'll need to purchase a so called record player.
