Mac book pro and firewire chip? Any problem?

finally :) no more FW issues in the future i guess...

Actually USB 3.0 still operates in the same way as 1.x and 2.0, which means it's still not good for professional audio, and it will never reach its maximum rated speed (not even close). While with FW, you can connect as many devices as you want and the speed stays the same, USB will drastically drop and vary in speed the more devices you use.

Oh and there's a new Firewire coming, called S3200. Those devices will work with all current FW cables and ports.

im a support agent for apple, and have had no calls about this issue for the macbook pro. really not as big of a problem as people say. there are plenty of drivers for most interfaces. macbook pro is the most popular apple comp. and i deal with those mofos all day (at least 30 a day). i know all the issues they have, and really they work with most audio interfaces fine.

Right, that's why literally EVERYONE who does pro audio has this show-stopper error with non-TI firewire chipsets under Mac OS X? How much does Apple pay you to fly against the facts and pretend there is no problem?

"Support" isn't exactly what you do, unless of course you mean supporting the regime. "Agent," however, is a more fitting description.

PS - I find it interesting that Apple is using cheaper and cheaper components in their machines, and yet the prices go higher and higher, disproportionate to the rest of the PC market.
